Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Norristown, Pennsylvania warehouse.

Job Summary:

Supervise the Pulling and Shipping departments and shifts to ensure continued timely and accurate flow of outbound production.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure warehouse staff accomplishes their daily duties by communicating job expectations, establishing priorities, monitoring and appraising job performance, coaching, and counseling.
  • Continually monitor activities and demand to ensure departments are staffed appropriately and staff are actively shifted between duties to ensure a highly efficient operation.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for outbound departments to assist in the resolution of problems preventing outbound completion. Work with other departments and corporate support staff to resolve issues and escalate problems accordingly.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring the steps of the order process, observing process control points and equipment, assigning and monitoring personnel progress and resources, correcting malfunctions or deficiencies within the process and resolving problems. Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between each production department.
  • Document incidents for reporting to the Warehouse Manager for appropriate disciplinary action, coordination, and enforcement of policies/procedures.
  • Work with Warehouse Manager to provide necessary training, re-training, and instructions for outbound production employees creating errors during their work

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
  • A minimum of two years experience as a supervisor within a distribution setting is preferred
  • A minimum of two years experience within the veterinary industry is preferred
  • Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified required
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to operate a Windows-based computer and data entry
  • Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (such as verifying a string of numbers)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods
  • Superior listening and verbal communication skills to include the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism
  • Ability to lead support positions to assure ultimate performance levels

  • Attention to detail critical to ensure accuracy of orders
  • Regular interaction with people, team-player
  • Fast pace of work, requires multi-tasking
  • Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Repetitive motion: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying
  • Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods
  • Bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching

Equipment Used:

Windows based computer, tape gun, safety knife, 2-way radio, forklift, safety equipment, markers, label equipment, packaging materials

Work Environment:

Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required. Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature-controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. May require handling of products with cautious warning labels. This is a safety sensitive position.
