Overview

Ferrellgas is currently searching for a Financial Accountant. This role is is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial analysis to support the monthly balance sheet and income statements.
  • Provides variance support on balance sheet flux and P&L review items
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform interim audit requests and annual audits.
  • Provides internal auditors with assigned SOX/control support.
  • Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares and loads assigned journal entries.
  • Assists non accounting areas with monthly close items including journal entries.
  • Provides support with various balance sheet accounts.
  • May assist with reconciling bank accounts.
  • May assist with reconciling cash disbursement accounts and other assigned financial accounts.
  • Coordinates with senior accountant to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Will be member of project teams for process improvements.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 1+ years of related experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
