Position Summary: The Property Technician plans and performs work relating to upkeep and repair of buildings, mechanical and plumbing systems, and vehicles in assigned areas of the organization. Essential Responsibilities:
- Creates and completes cleaning schedules for both inside and outside the facility including offices, bathrooms, halls, walls, parking lots, and green spaces
- Performs plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks, oversees electrical and mechanical system work
- Maintains safe and tidy grounds by:
- Using plow truck with salt spreader to safely and effectively clear parking lots of snow and salt as needed
- removing snow, ice and debris with shovel, snowblower
- salting,
- mowing and edging lawns
- trimming shrubbery
- removing trash
- Performs minor repairs and painting
- Maintains clean floors by sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, spot removal and shampooing carpets and rugs
- Completes preventative maintenance logs and safety inspections, maintains pool vehicles and schedules vehicles for service or repairs, cares for all maintenance equipment, alerting supervisor of any safety concerns or repairs
- Assists in moving furniture and tearing down or setting up for programs
- Orders and organizes supplies and keeps custodian closet well stocked at all times and cares for all maintenance equipment
- Transports donations, deliveries, and program participants as necessary
- General upkeep and light maintenance at officer's quarters
- Handles emergency building concerns before or after hours, such as snow removal
- Coordinates with outside vendors as needed for repairs.
- Move pallets of product with pallet jack
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities: Qualifications: Education/Experience:
- High school diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 1 year of maintenance experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Maintain confidentiality
- Basic knowledge and understanding of general maintenance, including:
- Carpentry
- Roofing
- Plumbing
- HVAC
- Vehicle maintenance
- Safely maneuver a pallet jack
- Driving pick-up truck with plow and automatic salter
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid Michigan driver's license with a chauffeurs' endorsement and pass The Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
