CUSTODIAL CREW MEMBER

JOB PURPOSE: The Custodial Staff is directly responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment for clients, staff, and volunteers by performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties. Keeps the shelter in clean and orderly condition.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.)

* Service, clean, and supply restrooms and showers

* Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects

* Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities

* Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions

* Train shelter clients in proper upkeep and cleaning of dining area and sleeping area

* Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs

* Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties

* Gather and empty trash

* Perform routine maintenance activities

* Sanitization of heavy traffic areas throughout the day

* Stock and maintain supply rooms

* Follow all health and safety regulations

* Report routine observations of residential and public areas to supervisory staff including conditions that may affect the safety and/or security of clients, residents, staff, or volunteers

* Assist with grounds and landscaping of facility

* Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required

EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 1 (one) year experience in a shelter setting. Must include experience in working with immigration populations, child welfare and vulnerable populations.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
