Job Overview
The Director Operational Risk leads a team responsible for implementing key elements of the enterprise Risk Management strategy, focusing on safety, loss prevention and regulatory compliance. This role ensures that risk mitigation processes are seamlessly integrated into the business plan to reduce the frequency and severity of losses, enhance operational efficiency, and safeguard both company assets and teammates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establishes strategy, design, and implementation plan of the Company Risk Control/Safety & Loss Prevention programs and policies to reduce (mitigate or avoid) the frequency and financial impact (severity) of accidental loss. Operational / hazard risks focused with a current annual spend of ~$50 MM Total Cost of Risk (TCOR)
- Serves as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator (DOT) compliance advisor on regulatory matters that affect the Coca-Cola Consolidated operations. Leads team in regulatory compliance (driver qualification, drug/alcohol testing, etc.) and operational field support (training)
- Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and risk trends to senior leadership
- Identifies gaps and advise on risk and safety strategies and establish, plan, and execute changes to reduce gaps and mitigate risk to the organization
- Leads risk data analytics, Incurred But Not Reported forecasting (INBR), and develop loss trends and reporting (Preparation and review of estimated liabilities for casualty risks - current balance sheet estimate $35 MM including case base and IBNR reserves.)
- Prepares financial analysis, information reporting, and internal controls related to risk control and safety. (i.e. Must communicate cross-functionally through concise and effectively organized material)
- Directs risk and safety technology-based programs, systems, and initiatives [Smith System, Lytx DriveCam, LMS training, ELDT] Works closely with our business partners (ex. Legal, HR, Field Operations) for effective organizational change efforts and initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication sills
- Knowledge acquired through 7 or more years of work experience
- Strong analytical, planning and communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
- DriveCam, LMS training, Everbridge
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (4 years)
- Knowledge acquired through 7 or more years of relevant work experience

- Compliance and Operational Risk Experience
