Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant Community Medicine - Woodstock Clinic.

In this role, the successful candidate Assist Physician and Nurse in routine exams & care of patients. Will perform EKGS, draw blood, process lab specimens and obtain vital signs, etc. MA will perform registration/billing functions at the homeless shelter clinic.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.
  • Completes all laboratory and POCT testing. Completes laboratory referral and specialty referral forms related to the service.
  • Transports and accompanies patients as needed
  • Observes and alerts the nursing staff of patients who appear in need of urgent care
  • Retrieves laboratory and ancillary test results from the computer
  • Completes, retrieves and/or prints patient forms, i.e. WIC, CIR
  • Checks for completeness of encounter forms and prescriptions
  • Registers patients for visits with their providers
  • Verifies insurance
  • SmartID: Effectively reviews patient MPI data to ensure that the correct patient is selected for registration or appointment scheduling
  • Demonstrates EMR competency
  • Obtains vital signs, height, weights, head and chest circumferences and documents accurately as needed.
  • Provides translation services as needed
  • Coordinates modules/site supply request as assigned
  • Performs venous phlebotomy
  • Responds appropriately to patient emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure
  • Documents data collected and care rendered
  • Demonstrates a sensitive and supportive attitude towards patients, families and/or significant others
  • Keeps all service areas orderly and set up completely - e.g. treatment, exam and utility rooms
  • Reinforces health teaching to patients/families
  • Assist with clerical duties specific to area of assignment
  • Attends staff meetings and review/signs minutes of meetings not attended. Maintains competence through in-service and educational programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School diploma required, Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Medical Assistant Certificate required.
1-2 years of Ambulatory Care experience preferred.
CPR certification.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $49,598.89 - $54,717.23 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
