Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Office of the Chancellor provides support services to the Chancellor at Elizabeth City State University. The Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer of the institution and serves as the senior administrative leader and official spokesperson at the local, state, national and international levels. The Office of the Chancellor coordinates and supports the activities of the Board of Trustees, serves as liaison between
UNC General Administration and the campus community, serves as the point of contact for various constituent groups served by the university, provides internal coordination and leadership on administrative matters, and provides technical and clerical support to the Chancellor. |
Description of Work |
The position will work with a range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, civic and community partners, alumni and institutional leaders. The position will assume tasks that shape the future of Elizabeth City State University including: managing program-based processes in the Chancellor's Office; design and implement project protocols, templates and procedures; assist with the collection, analysis and display of data in charts, tables or other formats; prepare abstracts, research reports. Duties will include the preparation of and distribution of various internal and external reports; frequent and effective communications various constituents; providing assistance in compilation of data, planning, scheduling and overseeing implementation of various events; maintain an efficient filing systems; interfacing with internal and external constituencies via face-to-face, telephone and email; utilization of computer skills and applications, word processing, spreadsheets, online calendars, email and general office equipment; and managing the office by coordinating records, files and reports, both internal and external. |

Communication-Verbal Presents ideas in a clear, concise, organized manner. Explains and interprets programs, policies and procedures to meet the specific needs of staff and clients. Advises program staff/clients in all matters related to program operations.
Communication-Written - Composes and organizes ideas logically, works in multiple formats such as letters, memos, reports or presentations, and can change/adjust style to meet the needs of the program and audience. Reviews sensitive materials and edits content constructively.
Office Technology - Selects, understands and fully applies a variety of features in software programs, databases, information systems, and specialized equipment.
Work Coordination Plans and facilitates the support activities of an office or work unit; coordinates with others to complete tasks.
Must be proficient in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Problem Solving - Recognizes, defines and resolves non-standard problems using operating procedures, practices and established precedents. Resolves recurring issues and problems as well as some unique situations. Anticipates problems and develops recommendations for management resolution.
Knowledge-Program Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the area of specialization, the program, process, and/or organizational operation. May be the content/process resource.

nformation/Records Administration - Coordinates varied records processing activities requiring the application and some interpretation of agency procedures, policies, laws, and regulations. Reviews information for completeness and accuracy using multiple guidelines.
Budgeting Monitors and reconciles departmental or program budget and office expenditures. |
