JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be appointed to work with the investigators currently leading the Mellon Foundation-funded Sawyer Seminar series 'Birthing the nation: Gender, sex, and reproduction in ethnonationalist imaginaries'.

Responsibilities include organizing scholarly events related to the series, working on an edited collection or special issue related to the seminar series, teaching support to the investigators where appropriate, and assistance in administering the grant.

Applicants should have: (1) A proven track record of high quality research in the critical investigation of race, gender, sex, and sexuality in discourse and society, in an empirical field related to the topic of the seminar series; (2) A high level of interest in and capacity to articulate the principles of the 'Birthing the Nation' project; (3) Evidence of a high level of administrative competence and a track record in seeing projects through to their conclusion.

A Ph.D. in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (or a related field) is required by the appointment date. This is a non-tenure-track, term position for one year.
