The Role

The Digital Engineering Group promotes a holistic approach to design and construction model-based services and technologies. The group defines the company strategy around the use of BIMs, data integration across models and departments, and cultural change across project teams to realize significant risk reduction on construction cost and schedule. Leveraging the design, engineering, and construction knowledge of Suffolk and Suffolk Illuminate, the Digital Engineering Team is charged with executing Plan + Control and creating innovative solutions in tech and process to ensure Suffolk is the best contractor in every region it operates.

Plan + Control is Suffolk's industry-leading process to deliver completed and coordinated drawings to project teams prior to work in place. Plan + Control has been a Standard Operating Procedure at Suffolk for 4 years and is one of Suffolk's most effective tools to ensure our projects are on time and on budget. Acknowledging the success we have seen, the Digital Engineering Team is focused on ensuring that it continues to differentiate Suffolk amongst its competitors.



Responsibilities

    Manage the successful delivery of the Plan + Control process on projects across the Suffolk regional portfolio.
  • Part of a leadership committee responsible for strategy and execution of Plan + Control, all BIM and VDC services, integration with construction site technology, digital integration and workflow development, and DE-related enterprise SAAS.
  • Ensure successful project team interactions with all approved 3rd party vendors.
  • Provide leadership to Field VDC project staff; ensuring consistency of Plan + Control on projects in collaboration with Project Teams.
  • Collect, track, and analyze project data and KPIs; develop tools and process innovations for continual improvement.
  • Implement and drive processes, reports, analytics, lessons learned and training materials to support the implementation of new disruptive processes across the region. This would include travel to our regional offices and Jobsites.
  • Create reports and presentations on analytical findings for delivery to senior management.
  • Provide training and support of software and tools to project teams.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to create effective sales and marketing tools and strategies.
  • Educate partners about Suffolk processes and protocols to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Assist and support the Senior Director of Digital Delivery and the Head of Suffolk Illuminate in successful execution of the business plan and 5-year strategy.
  • As the region grows, build and manage a team focused on customer (project teams) and client success and satisfaction.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in an accredited industry related curriculum.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of VDC and Project Management related design and/or construction experience with demonstrated progression of technical knowledge and responsibilities.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and manage responsibilities on multiple projects.
  • Customer-focused; ability to engage stakeholders and drive customer outcomes.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Strong written and oral communication; skilled in teaching, training, and presentations.
  • Advanced capability in 3D parametric modeling software and model coordination software. Ability to produce quantity takeoff extraction, clash detection, creation of custom Revit families, 4D simulations integrating construction schedule, and rendering high quality images of models.

  • Communicates with impact; manages stakeholder relationships to drive improvements that benefit the projects and Suffolk. Present as a credible and knowledgeable specialist in design, construction, VDC and emerging tech.
  • Negotiates effectively by managing conflicting goals and agendas across stakeholder groups. Ability to build advocacy and endorsement of ideas and initiatives from key stakeholders.
  • Understands Suffolk's commercial strategy and ensures key decisions made support the business imperatives and goals.
  • Role models optimism and a positive outlook, even during difficult situations, being future-and solution-focused.

The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
