Description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Association Director of Healthy Living, and in cooperation with the Association Director of Membership, the Nutrition Coach is responsible for supporting clients in their health and wellness journey by promoting healthy eating and nutrition. Responsibilities include delivering classes, facilitating corporate member learning sessions, providing individual consultations to members and participants, develop virtual content programs, lead staff training and workshops, and participating in community events as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Perform individual nutrition consultations focusing on nutrition needs, meal planning and behavior modification for successful long-term weight management as part of an overall fitness/wellness program.
  2. Schedule and conduct consultations according to the clients' availability.
  3. Listen carefully to understand the clients' goals and concerns and use empathy to help them achieve their goals.
  4. Educate others in a way that people with less technical knowledge can understand.
  5. Keep up to date with the latest nutritional research and translate the information into practical advice.
  6. Lead and facilitate nutrition related workshops and small group classes as needed.
  7. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Employees are held responsible for all duties of the job.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. Preferred Bachelor's degree or two year specialized degree in nutrition or related field from an accredited university or college; or be Certified in Nutrition or related field from nationally accredited institution (including, but not limited to ACE, ISSA, NASM, CCE Accredited program, Precision Nutrition, NESTA, or AFPA, other certifications are up to director's discretion).
  2. One year of experience in fitness, wellness and/or medical field is preferred.
  3. Outstanding oral and written communication skills are required.
  4. This person will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
