Description

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Field Service Technician to join our team based in New Orleans, LA. In this role, you'll be traveling to customer locations, ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of machines, while providing top-notch service and technical support.

What you'll do:

  • Provide both onsite and remote service of garment handling machines
  • Responsibilities to include mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, network connection and communication verification, machine and server software upgrades.
  • Coordinate scheduled preventative maintenance visits with the Field Service Manager and End Customer.
  • Coordinate scheduled and emergency troubleshooting visits with the Field Service Manager and End Customer.
  • Provide onsite demonstration and training to machine users and end customers' maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members both in the field and in our manufacturing facility.
  • Assist in developing work instructions and implementing enhancements for our installation and field service program.
  • Prepare service reports for all work done in the field.
  • Participate in installation during gaps in field service work.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports for expenses accumulated while in the field.
  • Make travel arrangements and manage an efficient travel schedule.
  • Identify work process problems and possible solutions.

What you'll get:

  • Compensation: $28/hr.
  • Position Type: Direct Placement
  • Travel: Three (3) to Four (4) weeks per month with the majority of the trips not needing an overnight stay. Some local preventative maintenance jobs may periodically need multiple overnight stays.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Installation or Field Service Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of computer operating systems, networking, connectivity, and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Additional:
  • Stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete floor.
  • Will be needed to kneel, squat, stoop, recline, climb, crawl, or bend on an as needed basis.
  • Must be able to adjust visual focus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, over 50 lbs with assistance of a lifting device.
  • Typical hospital or higher education laboratory environment.
