Job Description

The Institute for Human Development (IHD), a University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University's goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination.

The LifeCourse Nexus, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, is designed to support the "intersect of ideas, collaboration and transformation." The LifeCourse Nexus is a community of learning that brings people together to work towards transformational change within organizations, systems and communities to support "good lives for all people" through the Charting the Life Course (CtLC) Framework. The CtLC Framework is human-centric with key principles and tools to drive person-centeredness for all people and their families.

In addition, the LifeCourse Nexus serves as a research center, partnering with people and organizations who are using CtLC as a lens to enhance and innovate existing resources, training, and practices, and/or to develop new promising practices, resources, trainings, or products. The LifeCourse Nexus then disseminates these innovations, through access to resources and materials, and providing training and technical assistance.

The IHD is seeking an organized and resourceful professional to serve as a Educational Coordinator II for the LifeCourse Nexus. This role is a key contributor to the successful running of the LifeCourse Nexus.

The LifeCourse Nexus Educational Coordinator II will coordinate and support functions for the LifeCourse Nexus to ensure that the centers goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. This role has four primary components: communication, monitoring project management, coordinating meetings, and providing logistical support. The Program Support Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Manage day-to-day communication for the LifeCourse Nexus leadership team. Prepare letters, email, social media, and content for infographics, flyers, or newsletters. Coordination and collaborate with the Nexus Creatives and Communication Team.
  • Serve as point of contact among employees, partners, and other external stakeholders. Manage and coordinate subcontracts and invoicing logistics.
  • Coordinate the development and dissemination of reports of the LifeCourse Nexus and other related projects (routing for content reviews, formatting, proofreading, printing, distribution).
  • Utilize and monitor project management processes including the use of tools (e.g., software or applications) to manage large, complex, and multiuser projects.
  • Serve as the assistant to the LifeCourse Nexus Leadership Team including managing calendars and scheduling, making travel arrangements, and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and events for the LifeCourse Nexus.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and notes for the LifeCourse Nexus, as needed.
  • Assist the LifeCourse Nexus National Information and Reporting System (NIRS) liaison with data entry and reviewing the function's activities to ensure reporting is complete and accurate).
  • Prepare and process purchasing requests for the LifeCourse Nexus and related projects and monitor their fulfillment.
  • Provide support to the LifeCourse Nexus leadership team, which may include but is not limited to data entry, filing, and other activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:

The Educational Coordinator II reports directly to the LifeCourse Nexus Assistant Director. This position is housed on the UMKC - Volker campus.

Full time.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Starting salary is $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, qualifications, and internal equity.
