PURPOSE: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical, instrumentation & mechanical equipment located in the Dickinson Plant. Equipment includes but is not limited to various brands of rotating equipment, motors, valves and centrifuge. The position will play a key role in monitoring equipment with a goal of achieving higher equipment availability and lower maintenance costs through the application of predictive maintenance technologies to include, but not limited to, vibration monitoring and analysis, steam tracing and insulation repair and application. KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose and repair Plant operating equipment including items such as control panels, programmable logic controllers, flare systems, instruments and process measurement and flow devices.
- Safely work with electrical systems, including motors and disconnects, up to 480V.
- Set up, verify, and configure radar/ultrasonic level transmitters and mass flow meter using HART communication methods.
- Acquire and sustain knowledge of plant safety standards, including tag out lockout, confined space entry and emergency response actions.
- Receives instructions both written and verbal, setting the priorities for work assignments.
- Install, test and calibrate flow, level, pressure, temperature and other process instruments.
- Read and understand P&ID drawings. Record information on control systems and maintain documentation on terminal instrumentation.
- Meets with vendors to acquire skills and knowledge pertaining to technology advancements, cost control, and alternative solutions to reoccurring problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team operations and goals but not limited to: Filter changes, blinding, valve repair or replacement, piping and hose replacement and general clean-up asneeded
- Must be willing to work after hours as needed and participate in an on-call rotation
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- NCCER in Instrumentation either/or Electrical or Tech school completion certificate
- Minimum 5 years' work experience in electrical control troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and software
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Experience with root cause failure analysis (RCFA), infrared analysis and reliability centered maintenance (RCM)
- Training and certification in the safe operation of forklifts and other motorized equipment
COMPETENCIES:
- Solid analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capability of handling multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Assist other maintenance technicians as needed, providing support with off-task hands to facilitate efficient workflow.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to routinely lift, carry and push items up to 50 lbs in weight, as well as the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders over long periods of time
- Ability to work outside for long periods in adverse weather conditions, high temperature and humidity, rain, cold etc.
- Ability to wear PPE as needed including, but not limited to, eye/face protection, foot protection, gloves, hearing protection and head protection
