Huntsman is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Team Lead, Safety and Health.

Job Scope

Plan, coordinate, and implement industrial hygiene and safety programs on site. Promote and maintain worker health. Participates, develops and implements Safety programs.

As the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, you will:

  • Maintain industrial hygiene compliance through chemical and physical monitoring, exposure control, Hazard Communication programs, new product introduction and chemical approvals, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs, Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), procedure development, inspections and record maintenance.
  • Conduct and maintain site industrial hygiene risk assessments and monitoring data utilizing electronic database.
  • Work closely with the onsite Occupational Health Nurse maintaining and supporting the Health Surveillance programs.
  • Act as the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • Develop, support and oversee health and safety procedures at the site. Work to coordinate between the various departments that directly oversee field work at the plant to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a high level of field presence and assist on identifying, mitigate and/or eliminate health, safety, and environmental risks on site.
  • Audit the plant for health and safety procedure compliance and with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure third party safety oversight is conducted as needed for specialty contract tasks and special projects (i.e. building and structural construction, turnarounds, etc.).
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), Management of Change (MOC)s, Emergency Response team and Incident Investigations.
  • Prepare and maintain annual Chemical Weapons Convention reports.
  • Prepare for and participates in internal and external safety and environmental audits.
  • Participate and support Huntsman's Zero Harm safety initiatives.
  • Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety or related technical field with 5+ years of relevant working experience in an EHS role.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft program
  • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA-29 CFR 1910), especially in Industrial Hygiene, Medical Surveillance, Confined Space Entry, Control of Hazardous Energy, Work Permitting, Heat-Related Illness programs, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Hazard Communication, Radiation, Lab Hygiene, and OSHA Regulated Chemical Programs.
  • Familiar with industry standards and recommended practices (NFPA, ACGIH, ANSI, etc.) preferred.
