Position Summary:

Vallen's Integrated Supply Sales Account Managers are individual contributors that typically work for a Vallen specialty business and is responsible for generating outside sales leads, soliciting new prospective customers, building new customer relationships, and enhancing existing customer relationships in pursuit of selling the organization's solutions, products, and services to achieve performance goals in areas of sales, gross margin and profitability.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately forecasts opportunities; develops and manages a project & sales pipeline; follows-up on sales leads and moves potential customers through the sales cycle to generate revenue for the company.
  • Calls on current customers; performs sales calls via phone or in-person to introduce solutions and solicit product orders.
  • Builds rapport and relationships with customers in a prompt, courteous, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Prepares customized sales presentations following Vallen's solution selling guidelines and tools.
  • Displays or demonstrates products, using samples and/or catalogs, and emphasizes salable features; attends sales and/or trade shows in pursuit of new sales leads.
  • Identifies key deal-closing criteria and puts closure to profitable company opportunities; identifies and collaborates with other internal associates/teams necessary to close on new Vallen business.
  • Prepares quotations, and conducts onsite activities with subject matter experts / vendor reps.
  • Meets and exceeds both qualitative and quantitative goals on a consistent basis, for both sales and cost savings goals.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with Vendor/Supplier community to support solutions selling opportunities related to those vendors.
  • Collaborates with customer service and/or inside sales representatives and site management to keep account activities and literature current.
  • May initiate and /or coordinates customer training.
  • Assists with investigating and resolving customer problems with order deliveries or company services.
  • May be required to prepare a variety of reports related to business transactions or as requested.
  • Expected to manage and keeps expense accounts current.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Supply Chain Mgt, Marketing, Finance, etc.) and 3+ years of outside or inside experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other relevant experience should include:

  • Strong sales, service, and presentation acumen.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette, professional attitude and sales integrity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product and solution-based sales life cycles and best-in-class processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management, problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Quality mindset with strong attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Demonstration of accounting or general business financial acumen - to document TCO's and cost savings.
  • Demonstrated ability to set profitable sales goals and achieve them.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office products (Excel, Word) and the technical aptitude to learn all company specific programs and software applications.

  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and presenting in front of others.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
  • Must have the ability to work physical inventory.
  • May be required to work in extreme hot, cold, or dusty environments.
  • While performing the duties of this job, associates are regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and climb.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have the ability to pass written and driving tests.
