Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Division Director to work in our Reactor Systems Design and Analysis Department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. We are seeking an accomplished leader to serve as the next Director of the Reactor Systems Design and Analysis (RSD&A) Division, reporting to the NS&T Associate Laboratory Director (ALD). The mission of the RSD&A Division is to provide reactor design and analysis leadership, research and development for science-based solutions to sustain and expand the commercial reactor fleet. As the leader of the RSD&A Division, the Director plays an essential role in the INL's efforts to challenge conventional approaches to nuclear reactor research, demonstration and deployment (RD&D) and leading the paradigm shift to develop advanced nuclear reactors including for space and defense, to support energy security and independence for the nation. Responsibilities Include:
- Formulation and communication of a compelling vision, strong internal and external relationship engagement, management direction, business development, implementation of the division strategy, and leadership to focus and integrate the RSD&A Division departments toward applied science and technology goals consistent with the INL's strategic plan, existing programmatic missions, and emerging opportunities.
- Direction and supervision of programmatic leaders providing direct support to sponsoring organizations, including the Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE), the department of Defense (DOD). the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and other organizations such as Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), NASA with Fission Space Power and Nuclear Thermal Propulsion and the private sector.
- Provides technical leadership for a number of reactors that are under development by such as MARVEL, Pele, MCRE, and VALKRE.
- Collaborate with leaders across the laboratory to ensure the execution of the INL's strategic plan and to meet programmatic stakeholder needs, particularly within the NS&T, with other INL directorates including the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) and National and Homeland Security (NHS) Directorates, and with the INL's mission enabling organizations to leverage the full resources of the laboratory and those of our partners to achieve our mission and vision.
- Responsible for leadership and management of a growing organization of scientists, engineers, technical, and support staff. As a leader in the NS&T Directorate, the Director is responsible for creating a culture of collaboration and innovation with a persistent focus toward the professional development of staff.
- You will report to the ALD.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in nuclear science and engineering or a related discipline with at least 10 years of management experience in a nuclear-related R&D organization and/or program. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in nuclear science and engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership and business management skills with a proven track record of accomplishments through delivery of sponsor's programmatic requirements, publications, awards, professional recognition, and development and execution of a nuclear-related R&D vision and strategy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience interacting effectively with a broad spectrum of people and issues in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Experience developing and/or maintaining a healthy, positive, and inclusive work environment that promotes and enhances discovery and innovation.
- Proven records of establishing effective collaborations across organizations and a record of successful interactions with DOE and other government organizations and programs as well as industry partners.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
- The target pay range for this position is $152,550.00- $223,271.00 annually. The full pay range is $124,848.00 - $324,600. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
