Position Summary
The Commercial Credit Training Manager supports Busey's Commercial & Wealth Leadership Development Institute and its participants through management and training of new program recruits. The Manager supports recruitment & hiring, onboarding, credit and WM line of business specific training and curriculum rotations, while directly training year one program participants.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the new associate onboarding and training of the BLDI Commercial and Wealth Analysts
  • Work with other departments across the Bank to develop and facilitate meaningful curriculum rotations for the Commercial & Wealth Analysts
  • Plan and facilitate credit training sessions specifically tailored to Commercial & Wealth Analysts.
  • Assist the Commercial & Wealth Program Manager with maintaining the Busey Leadership Development Institute (BLDI) curriculum and syllabus
  • Use financial data such as cash flow, liquidity, profitability, and leverage to determine and minimize the overall risk of extending credit to businesses and individuals. Review the prospective loan grade of each approval to ensure it aligns with regulatory and policy definitions.
  • Ensure that timely underwriting is being achieved through regular communication with the Commercial and Wealth Analysts.
  • In coordination with the Wealth Management Program Leadership, facilitate evaluations and periodic assessments of the Commercial and Wealth Analysts.
  • In conjunction with the Talent Acquisition Programming Specialist and other bank staff, assist in hiring for each program class, including attending job fairs, networking with local colleges and universities and screening and interviewing candidates
  • Manage, train and develop non-program commercial credit personnel, as applicable
  • Manage the credit internship process including hiring, onboarding and day-to-day oversight.


Education & Experience

  • Knowledge of:
    • Change management, negotiation, problem solving and facilitation skills
    • The Bank's Commercial Banking and Credit Underwriting processes, guidelines and policies
    • The Bank's Financial Planning model, processes, guidelines and policies
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation, and critical thinking skills
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to:
    • Use best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to deliver programs that facilitate the execution of business priorities
    • Take independent action within established options and develop new procedures and approaches to problems when necessary
    • Analyze situations and solve problems
    • Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures
  • Education and Training:
    • Requires Bachelor's degree or higher with a concentration in Business or Finance
    • Requires 3 or more years of Commercial Credit experience
    • Prior management experience strongly preferred including military and/or similar training experience
    • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office


Benefits and Compensation

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $68,000 - $94,000/year)
