PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $315k - $425k annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

The SVP, Business and Community Banking (BCB) will be a key driver of growth and innovation, taking full profit-and-loss responsibility for these segments while crafting forward-thinking financial and business plans that align with BECU's annual goals as well as its three- to five-year strategic vision and purpose. This dynamic leader will actively lead business development, foster member and business engagement, and oversee relationship management, alongside the delivery of loan and deposit products. The SVP BCB will collaborate across all departments to create and execute strategies in credit, product offerings, pricing, marketing, and delivery, ensuring robust growth and deep member engagement that directly supports BECU's mission.

As a senior leader, the SVP BCB will play a pivotal role in shaping BECU's future by contributing to corporate strategic planning and making influential business decisions as a key member of the Asset and Liability Management (ALM), Corporate Credit Risk Committee, and other senior governing committees.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Strategic Planning: Develop annual business plans for the business and community banking segments, including membership, loans, deposits, and non-interest income to meet loan and deposit production goals, product return and portfolio credit quality objectives.

Product Development: Utilize industry benchmarks and member insights to create strategic product roadmaps for small/medium businesses, affordable housing, and non-profit organizations, ensuring they are supported by solid business cases.

Segment Growth: spearhead segment growth strategies, creating an evolving delivery model that aligns with BECU principles for maximum growth.

Affordable Housing Programs: Collaboratively work with BECU's Impact team to develop programs supporting community initiatives and member needs.

Community Engagement: Actively engage in local, state, and national credit union organizations to identify and implement affordable housing opportunities.

Innovation and Member Experience: Lead efforts to develop products that improve member experiences and address the lifecycle needs of small and medium businesses to improve member experience, drive growth, and support business members throughout their lifecycle.

Market Opportunities: Drive strategies to capture market opportunities, scale the sale process, and effectively address business member needs.

Member Satisfaction: Analyze member satisfaction and loyalty surveys to identify needs, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement.

Credit Strategy: Lead BCB segments by defining credit product strategies, risk tolerance, and loan participation strategies and execution.

Senior Loan Officer: Act with authority as Senior Loan Officer, having signing approval and loan review authority, adhering to the Credit Union's Loan Policy Manual.

Organizational Support: Ensure proper structure and staffing to support the business line and BECU's strategic goals.

Portfolio Management: Actively manage the new loan and deposit portfolios to ensure returns and credit quality, structuring business relationships for optimal returns and member experience.

Community Representation: Represent BECU in the business community, enhancing our presence and commitment to Business and Community Banking.

Compliance Knowledge: Maintain a strong working knowledge of state and Federal regulatory compliance laws, all business services & commercial loan products and services, accounting, marketing, sales, financial and credit/portfolio management principles

Internal Communication: Promote effective communication within the business line and organization to meet strategic goals.

Policy Management: Regularly update policies and procedures to remain compliant with regulations to include keeping informed on codes and regulations to ensure that the Credit Union's practices are properly in compliance.

Reporting/Record Keeping: Maintain the necessary operational audit and/or management information reporting that may be required of the department, to include keeping statistical records as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically B.A. or B.S. in business or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically minimum 12 years of people leader experience.
  • Typically minimum ten years of experience leading a business services operation and/or affordable housing loan program, including delivery of products and services through retail branch networks as well as small-to-medium market client and relationship management teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong Preference is someone living in Seattle metro area.
  • Experience managing various types of business services including deposit products, payment services, cash management accounts, as well as credit and debit card acquirer knowledge.
  • Experience with affordable housing programs and financial health programs aimed at supporting emerging businesses.
  • Experience within retail financial institution branch channels, remote delivery channels or wholesale lending functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization, including executive management and the Board of Directors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure personnel/member related issues are handled in a fair, consistent manner.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills including an understanding of product profitability, pricing analysis, and loan loss reserve methodology.
  • Effective leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal regulatory compliance laws.
