Job Overview

The Core Operations Manager provides oversight of the Bank's Data Processing Center, in compliance with state and federal regulation and company policies and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Core Operations Manager works within the Bank Operations and Technology team to meet departmental strategic objectives.


Principal Accountabilities

The Core Operations Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, and operations of the Data Processing Center. Schedules and directs operations of the host and core processing systems and the data processing production environment to ensure efficient, effective, and timely service is provided to the Bank.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), quality of documentation, timeliness and accuracy of departmental work products and projects. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through involvement in local organizations and events.


Duties

  • Oversee routine system operation functions of the core and host processing systems, including day, night and month end processing, in addition to database administration; ensure quality, accuracy, and integrity of the systems and data are maintained.
  • Oversee the direction, coordination, planning and operation of the Bank's Data Processing Center; define infrastructure within the department to ensure assigned core operations plans, goals, deadlines and service levels are attained; direct and delegate the daily operations of all department functions; take ownership and ensure timely responses and resolutions of all issues and ensure activities run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Administer host and core system software and hardware in coordination with the Sr. Technology Officer; design, implement and maintain appropriate technology to meet the Bank's requirements and usage, including standards for the operations, use, backup, and redundancy of such resources; maintain up to date knowledge of related system software and hardware and ensure optimal utilization of the system resources.
  • Write and maintain accurate and current core operations policies, procedures, processes and other related documentation, such as installation settings, run job procedures, system specifications, testing plans, etc.
  • Report suspicious transactions or unusual occurrences to supervisor.
  • Conduct and document periodic risk reviews and run reports as needed
  • Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and instructions.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information private and confidential.
  • Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in daily tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


Personnel Management

  • Provide supervision and support to all areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; oversee activities of assigned department advisors.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and partner with Human Resources to recruit, hire, retain and develop a talented and diverse workforce.
  • Coordinate training for new hires and in conjunction with performance and developmental needs.
  • Monitor behavior and results to effectively coach and motivate team members to achieve service and sales goals.
  • Establish individual performance goals. Prepare and conduct scheduled performance evaluations. Address and document performance issues.
  • Schedule employees, manage time off requests and approve weekly timecards.
  • Responsible for building and developing a successful team as well as staff retention. Involve staff in planning, decision-making and process improvement.
  • Responsible for encouraging continuous enhancement of subordinates' knowledge and competencies to foster their successful career advancement.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university, or equivalent education from a technical or trade school; or 5 years related experience and/or training. Work related experience should be a technical background in IT management. Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of agency guidelines and industry standards as they relate to Bank operations, products and services and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional organization, time management and follow-up skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, bank employees and outside service providers.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring sound judgment.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical computations using various systems and/or applications
  • Must have proficient typing and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
