Job Summary

The External Reporting individual will prepare SEC filings (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, etc.), prepares financial data and calculations contained within the filings and ensures these filings are completed in an efficient and timely manner. The candidate will perform accounting research for technical issues to ensure SEC and other statutory filings comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC disclosure requirements, and related guidance. This position prepares documentation on accounting treatment for these technical issues. This position will manage others within the department.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and completes the preparation of the Company's external financial statements and other reports filed with the SEC, including the 8-K, 10-Q and 10-K filings as well as XBRL tagging.
  • Manages and completes the preparation of Company's external financial statements for debtholders as well as reviews required compliance information prepared by Treasury Department.
  • Preparation and compilation of the underlying financial data included in the MD&A section of Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Work collaboratively with external auditors, responding to interim review and year-end audit requests and ensure compliance with SOX controls.
  • Interact, communicate and act as a liaison with other functional departments to ensure the quality, accuracy and completeness of the financial reporting disclosures included in external filings.
  • Support Investor Relations in the preparation for quarterly and annual press releases and the associated conference call scripts by ensuring accurate, consistent, and transparent disclosures.
  • Work closely with corporate communications and legal teams for public disclosures and statements.
  • Prepare financial results for management (Executive Committee, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors).
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge on changes in accounting standards.
  • Responsible for the ongoing evaluation of financial reporting processes to implement enhancements, improve automation, develop, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (like GAAP), and managing intercompany transactions and eliminations for a group of companies.
  • Review financial statement support and documentation provided by other departments.
  • Research and document accounting positions, policies, and new transactions based on GAAP and various regulatory requirements, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Responsible for reviewing and/or preparing external reporting disclosure checklists, as applicable.
  • Assist with special projects, as assigned.
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic environment, be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work under intensive deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient with software used by the company, including Workiva, Oracle Cloud Fusion Financials and Hyperion.
Qualifications
  • Experience with SEC filing and reporting - Preferred
  • Experience working in a Public Accounting Firm - Preferred
  • CPA - Preferred
  • Telecom experience a plus

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in Colorado. The pay range at the time of posting in the specified locations is $150,000 - $180,000/year. Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with Colorado law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
