Position Purpose
The Environmental Manager is responsible for developing and managing environmental compliance practices to meet regulatory and good manufacturing practices at all Delicato facilities. This position manages company relationships with environmental regulators and will develop and implement policies and procedures (in conjunction with applicable managers) related to air, water, and land pollution control that comply with federal, state and local rules and regulations. The Environmental Manager will also enhance current sustainability programs and associated certifications/communications in partnership with applicable leaders and senior leaders throughout the organization. This role will report to Delicato's Director ESG & Sustainability, and manages the Environmental Engineer.
Functional Responsibility
- Manages and monitors day-to-day operations and team performance to ensure smooth workflows and that company standards are met
- Manages company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions; encourages strong work ethic and fosters an environment of trust and respect
- Develops and aligns individual goals with the department's operational goals; ensures that decisions, actions, and priorities are aligned with the company's vision, mission, and strategies
- Researches best practices, stays abreast of industry trends, and maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
- Assists in preparing the departmental budget, monitors spending, and directs team in cost-effective operations to ensure adherence to financial objectives
- Monitors performance and regularly communicates with direct reports to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
- Partners with immediate manager to determine staffing needs; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve goals and objectives
- Provides employees with a safe, healthy, and rewarding work environment; ensures delivery and completion of monthly safety topics
- Communicates and supports change initiatives and decisions in an effective manner to successfully guide team through change
- Fosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovation
- Addresses employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner; notifies HR Business Partner and keeps immediate manager informed as appropriate
- Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions
- Coaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies
Essential Duties
- Manages the application, implementation and renewal of environmental permits for all applicable winery equipment/operations
- Supervises environmental regulatory audits
- Compiles necessary information and submits reports to federal, state, and county regulatory agencies as required, including air quality and emissions-related reports, drinking water reports, groundwater reports, and waste water reports
- Communicates accurately and knowledgeably with various governmental agencies regarding regulatory programs, permits, and compliance matters
- Tracks current and pending legislative, regulatory and certifying framework standard requirements; advises senior management of impending and potential risks that may affect current operations, permits and certifications, as well as future development considerations
- Maintains accurate documentation and records management, including management of applicable technology systems, as required for environmental compliance programs and legal obligations
- Investigates environmental compliance related incidents regarding operational procedures, causation information, and potential practices of enhancing compliance and mitigating risks
- Organizes and educates cross functional teams on compliant management of environmental processes
- Measures, analyzes, reports, and communicates data/information about environmental performance and effectiveness
- Encourages cost effective solutions towards environmental risks to applicable managers and stakeholders
- Provides cost analysis data to improve future budgets
- As requested, serves as a Company representative to professional and industry organizations concerning environmental issues (e.g. Wine Institute Environmental Working Group, Manufacturers Council of Central Valley Working Group, etc.)

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and to utilize sound judgment and discretion as needed for sensitive and proprietary matters and information
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and positively influence others across all functions and levels of Delicato
- Proven project management, organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate issues and facilitate problem resolution
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, data management systems, and other utility applications
Certificates and Licenses
Working Conditions
- Office/Manufacturing plant/production floor environment with occasional travel
- Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
- Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
- Extended Hours (can occur during audits and special projects)
- Work at protected heights of 50' (during air permit inspections)

Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $100,157.52 to $156,787.44. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
