Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lead SDET with expert level experience to develop and support Automation Frameworks / Tools for Insurance Technology Systems. The Lead SDET has broad software programming / technical expertise working in Financial Services / Life Insurance. The position is in the Engineering Excellence, Quality Engineering (QE) Team. You will provide leadership to other SDETs and testing staff supporting various business units ensuring the teams effectively integrate with QE CoE. You will provide guidance and solutions to improve testing and automation in the overall organization. You will work with QE leadership team to optimize testing, enhance efficiency in testing and improve quality for the overall organization.

We're actively seeking a talented Lead SDET to join our Engineering Excellence team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha NE.

* This role is on-site. You'll work at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach headquarters / modern Omaha office.

As a Lead SDET you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by providing leadership to other SDETs and testing staff supporting various business units ensuring the teams effectively integrate with QE CoE. You will provide guidance and solutions to improve testing and automation in the overall organization. You will work with QE leadership team to optimize testing, enhance efficiency in testing and improve quality for the overall organization. The position is in the Engineering Excellence, Quality Engineering Enablement Team.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Provides leadership to other SDETs and testing teams ensuring the teams effectively integrate with QE CoE.
  • Evaluate market tools or develop Automation frameworks / Tools that provides testers across the organization with standardized tools.
  • Lead, provide hands-on help and guidance to the QE members across the organization.
  • Innovates to solves complex software engineering and technical problems.
  • Tracks key CoE metrics and ensures regular and consistent communication of progress towards overall goals.
  • Proven ability to drive innovation in the QE area, promoting test effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develop standardized repeatable testing process reducing cycle time and improving productivity for testers.
  • Provide clear and comprehensive documentation for the QE processes and tools.
  • Advocate for automation-first, embedded security and performance practices.

The experience you bring:

  • Hands-on experience developing self-service automation frameworks / Tools in financial service organizations is a requirement, working in Insurance organizations is a plus.
  • Experience supporting federated Quality Assurance teams with Automation and Tools.
  • Proven experience in significantly improving testing practices (including Performance and Security) and automation within a Life Insurance organization.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or 5+ years of experience in software architecture position working with multiple latest enterprise software development and testing products.
  • Proven ability to drive technical innovation in architecture and testing practice, improving testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience setting up and administering ADO (Azure DevOps organizations)

  • Possesses extensive knowledge and experience working in distributed and Mainframe environments.
  • Experience working in a QE CoE developing automation framework / tools to support QE teams across the organization.
  • Expertise with tools like Selenium/WebDriver, BDD/TDD frameworks.
  • Expert knowledge in CSS, XML, HTML, JSON, YAML and other protocols.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge and experience in testing APIs, Service End Points.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Life Insurance Industry.
  • Extensive experience testing data migrations/transformations.
  • Advance knowledge of common software testing procedures and methodologies.
  • Familiar with new innovative trends or tools in the QE space.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while driving resolution and getting results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Passion for improving Quality Engineering practice and understanding of tester needs.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$163,620.00 - $199,980.00
