Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Controller to join our dynamic accounting and finance team. In this key role, you will drive the transformation of the accounting department and implement best-in-class financial reporting practices. You will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements, overseeing the month-end close process, collaborating with external auditors, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering their growth while enhancing overall team performance and helping consistently achieve a business day (BD4) month-end close..

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with US GAAP, financial reporting, and ASC 606, and will be a champion of process improvement initiatives. Strong cross-functional collaboration should be a core value, and the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to draft technical memos that clearly communicate complex accounting issues.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee the organization's general ledger, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance and streamline accounting processes, particularly focusing on improving reconciliations and optimizing the month-end close cycle.
  • Manage the revenue process, including oversight of AR and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are completed accurately for both internal and external reporting.
  • Draft technical memos on complex accounting issues and assist in implementing solutions that align with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial data, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and cost-saving efficiencies.
  • Provide support during external audits, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to audit requirements and deadline are met.

  • Fully acclimated to key responsibilities and consistently delivering high-quality results.
  • Capable of analyzing complex transactions, resolving discrepancies, and contributing to month-end close activities.
  • Proficient in using NetSuite for financial reporting and close processes.

In 12 months...

  • Independently managing accounting issues and demonstrating full ownership of accounts.
  • Identifying inefficiencies in current processes and proposing actionable improvements.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to mitigate financial risks and improve accounting practices.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with extensive exposure to general ledger management, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and financial reporting standards, with strong expertise in ASC 606 for revenue recognition.
  • Experience with leading ERP systems such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct is required.
  • Prior experience in a private equity-backed SaaS environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to draft clear and comprehensive technical memos on complex accounting topics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, virtual work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Strong judgment and creativity in solving complex problems and developing innovative solutions.
  • Proven success in fast-paced, high-growth, and dynamic work environments.
