This position coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising for establishment.

Work Model: Onsite

• Reviews requisitions.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
• Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
• Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
• May approve invoices for payment.
• May expedite delivery of goods to users.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Mandatory:

• Associated Degre in Business Administration or related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on the basis of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.
• Ability to type a minimum of 55 WPM.
• Two years purchasing experience with a general range of commercial and industrial product knowledge.
• Must have knowledge and experience in the procedures and administration for subcontracts.
• Must possess strong computer skills to include practical experience working with spreadsheet and data base programs, including automated purchasing procedures and programs.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standard.
• Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access.
