Summary:
The Manager, FP&A-R&D will be responsible for financial analysis, management reporting, planning, forecasting and ad hoc analysis for assigned Research & Development departments, clinical trials, and intercompany markups. Timely and accurate reporting and analysis will provide strategic financial support to management.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.
* Primary Finance Liaison supporting budget managers for areas assigned including:
o Building annual budgets and periodic forecast updates (latest estimates)
o Interact heavily with business partners to help them with their budget, forecast and analyze spend variances in their departments and identify associated risks, opportunities, and action plans
o Track individual department & clinical trial spend
o Prepare monthly accruals, related journal entries and account reconciliations
o Prepare and distribute timely financial reports with variance explanations vs. budget and current forecasts. Conduct one-on-one review meetings with business partners
o Review contracts and POs to confirm appropriate approval, proper GL/project coding and whether budgeted
o Ensure accurate recording of appropriate markups on intercompany services across legal entities to maintain compliance with transfer pricing regulations
o Collaborate closely with the tax team to provide financial analysis, forecasting, and historical data to support effective tax planning
* Identify and implement process efficiencies to ensure an efficient and effective month end close and reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Interaction:
This position reports to the Director, FP&A-R&D and works closely with budget owners (both middle & senior management) of assigned departments & clinical trials, employees, consultants, and vendors.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or closely related field from accredited college or university. CPA or MBA preferred
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in a corporate environment with financial analysis, financial planning/budgeting, or management reporting required
* Research & Development and/or clinical trial experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial reporting software. Experience with OneStream or any other forecasting software tool is a big plus.
* Proven excellent analytical and quantitative skills
* Demonstrated detail- and results- orientation with strong problem solving, research and resolution skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines.
* Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Working knowledge of US GAAP/SOX and an understanding of internal accounting controls.
* Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including presentation skills.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms, and stoop. Close vision and the need to focus on computer screen, use of hands, fingers, and wrist to type on keyboard and manipulate mouse.

Work Environment:
Typical office setting, staff in cubicles, noise level is moderate with consistent printer, telephone ringing and conversation. Employees are in a cubicle setting when in the office.
