Senior Advanced Electrical Engineer

Experience in analog and digital circuit design, including signal integrity principles
  • As a senior advanced Electrical Engineer for the Progeny Systems Business Area, you'll be a member of or lead a cross-functional team dedicated to developing military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.
  • Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits, including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, transformers, inductors, amplifiers, and communication.
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware.
  • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems, including test software applications.
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions.
  • Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems.
  • Design and build prototype cable assemblies.
  • Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies.
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer.
  • Generate design and interface documentation.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in analog and digital circuit design, including signal integrity principles.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Working knowledge of transformers and inductors and how to size them, including key parameters such as flux density magnetizing current, leakage inductance, transformer and inductors losses, and temperature rise.
  • Working knowledge of op-amps and transistors, including Bipolar, JFETs, and MOSFETs.
  • Working knowledge of standard communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP.
  • Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including the creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment.
  • Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with battery systems, electric motors, and MATLAB programming.
