Postdoctoral Associate - Proteomics

Broad Institute
United States, Massachusetts, Cambridge
Apr 01, 2025

Description & Requirements

The Proteomics Group (Carr/Udeshi Lab) at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to develop and apply state-of-the art mass spectrometry-based proteomics technology to address compelling questions in biology, chemistry and clinical medicine in a highly collaborative setting with groups in the greater Broad scientific community and beyond.

The specific research areas of immediate interest that this scientist could drive include:

* Proteogenomic studies of a wide range of cancers.

* Detailed studies of cellular signaling networks related to protein phosphorylation, ubiquitylation or acetylation.

* Chemical proteomics technologies such as thermal profiling and cell surface proteomics
to unveil intracellular and cell-surface protein drug targets.

* Developing biological understanding of response and resistance to therapy
successful candidates will work in one or more of these areas together with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, biologists, computational and proteomics scientists to deeply characterize and understand the proteomes of tumor-derived material, cells and biofluids.

The Broad Institute is a world-leading non-profit research organization dedicated to realizing the promise of the post-genomic era for human benefit. Located in Cambridge, MA with strong ties to MIT, Harvard, and world class Boston hospitals, the Broad Institute brings together scientists of diverse backgrounds to solve critical problems in biology and medicine in an interdisciplinary manner. The Broad Institute, and the embedded Proteomics Group, have an outstanding track-record in training the next generation of research scientists. We (www.broadinstitute.org/proteomics) have a very strong track record in developing and applying proteomic technologies critical to address important questions in biology and medicine. We collaborate with top-level international researchers throughout the world, and results of these studies and our technology developments are published in top-tier journals.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

* An Ph.D. Or MD, PhD in areas such as analytical chemistry, molecular biology, biology,
biochemistry, computational biology or preferably interdisciplinary sciences merging
laboratory and bioinformatic skills

* Excellent scientific productivity, evidenced by high-quality research publications in peer-
reviewed journals

* Track record of conducting independent and creative research

* Analytical aptitude for devising innovative scientific or technical solutions

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Hands-on skills and knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be considered an advantage:

* State-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based proteomics

* Expertise in statistical and/or computational analysis of large-scale proteomic or genomic data

* Analysis of cell signaling pathways/networks

* Cell biology/ biochemical methods to understand protein function

* Domain expertise in a disease area such as cancer, metabolic or infectious disease
