Summary of Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager (Construction) is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the company's new store opening plan. This position manages and develops one to two Project Managers and may also manage an Associate Project Manager. The Senior Project Manager is directly responsible for 10 - 15 of their own new store openings and, indirectly, 20+ new store openings (store openings managed by their direct reports). This position is responsible for all phases of project development, including construction, architecture, and engineering coordination required for the complete development of assigned company restaurants. The Senior Project Manager ensures completion of all construction projects within the required turnover date and within budget. This role must assess, adjust, and align ongoing projects with the company's strategic objectives and priorities. Ensures all project information contained in systems, documents, and reports is current.

You'll get a chance to:

  • Manages one to two Project Managers and/or Associate Project Managers.Responsible for new store openings managed by these direct reports.Coaches and develops the Project Manager(s)/Associate Project Manager(s).Responsible for developing and elevating associate performance to support the company's growth and talent strategies.
  • Serves as project manager for new store construction covering all phases of project development for 10 - 15 new stores in addition to being responsible for the stores managed by their direct reports. Ensures construction is completed and meets the company's high-quality standards on a timely and cost-effective basis.Oversees the work of selected general contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Responsible for construction, architecture, and engineering coordination required for development of new stores. Collaborates with other company functions and consultants/ suppliers to ensure new stores meet PRG's standards, AHJ requirements, codes, and [any] landlord requirements.
  • Supports Real Estate Managers in their research for store sites, including due diligence, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and floor and site plans.
  • Ensures completion of required approval processes, including government agencies, developers, and landlords.Accountable for the construction bidding and contracting process for assigned stores.Supports development of a pool of qualified contractors for the assigned territory.
  • Assesses construction activities at the job sites; maintains project schedule, tracks regulatory approval processes, and manages project costs.Ensures compliance with company, industry practices and codes. Responsible for construction quality management (CQM) to ensure that construction aligns with or exceeds Panda standards and industry best practices.Establishes and monitors quality objectives, applies quality controls and strategic quality assurance practices.
  • Responsible for regular reporting on project process to all stakeholders and responsible for ensuring construction documents are accurate and reflect current requirements to enable quality bids.
  • Works closely with Operations to ensure new stores are successfully turned over to Operations as scheduled.Keeps key stakeholders updated of scope/schedule/cost changes.

Your background & experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum seven years of construction project management experience, preferably in the retail/hospitality environment
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required training
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.
  • If hired, successful completion of annual store training
  • Active driver's license
  • Ability to drive in locations that requires ground transportation during the course of work

Work Environment:

  • Office conditions; ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends; travel to new stores and stores under construction as well as Operations Regional meetings:40% - 50%; ability to climb on roof approximately 40 feet high and lift 50 lbs.

Workspace is restricted and employees are generally expected to remain standing for long periods of time. Employees must prepare hot and cold foods, use Chinese cook knife and other kitchen equipment and work quickly without losing accuracy.
