Job Objective:
- Safely operate a non-woven line by rotating, learning and mastering duties to perform and maintain a continuous process environment. Perform minor machine maintenance, preventive maintenance and move material between designated work areas.
- Maintain safety, quality and productivity standards and maintain a clean work area. Accurately complete all paperwork necessary to this operation using Active Plant, and Roll Mapping with MS applications such as Excel Word. Follow Standard Operating Procedures and control plans. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
- Entry level: Must be able to operate and maintain a continuous process environment while operating all required functions of the non woven line and slitting process. Perform preventative maintenance as necessary. Minor maintenance to machines is required. Set the machine to the proper recipe and verify the raw material is correct to the bill of materials. Test and certify that the in coming and finish product is within specification using test data, test equipment and product specification sheets. Must react and control non-conforming material in the process. Label and move product to its location using Oracle and staging for shipping.
- Mid Level: Along with the above essential job functions, must be able to run the process with minimal input from the supervisor. Occasionally cross train on jobs requiring similar skills in other areas. Train and implement 5-s and safety standards. Communicate with co-workers, managers and supervisors on all aspects of the machine safety and quality. Observe ways of waste reduction and assist in the implementation of waste reduction. Must maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Certified Level: Along with the above essential job functions, must be self-motivated in solving problems, work and meet daily goals, update action items driven on the metric charts using the SQDIP board matrix. Consistently and accurately input data. Working closely with manufacturing management and engineering on all aspects of the Non-Wovens department. Must have strong knowledge of the control plan for the Non-Wovens process. Must be able to operate all controls on the machine including the Roll Quality map trimming master rolls for the slit converting process. Must know all of the functions for needle board repair and follow them through. Must know all Oracles reporting from dispatch reports to waste reports and discreet job moves. Must be willing to work with engineering and product development on projects for the Non-Wovens area.
Job Qualifications:
- Two years of production machine operator experience.
- Ability to read and interpret, written instructions, to accurately complete basic paperwork and to perform data entry.
- Proficiency in basic math and use of a calculator excel spread sheets. Ability to read a ruler and operate test equipment such as a tensile tester and operate weight scale.
- Hazardous Communications, Lockout / Tag out and Fork Lift Certification or certification obtained within 30 days.
- Must have knowledge or be trained in PC controls for the operations of the machine.
- Must be able to lift the maximum weight required for the role.
- Must follow all department and company policies.
- Must be able to self pace learning including book, web based and classroom participation.
- Must be able to understand and update documents when changes need to be made for your area working with the WEB administrator.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Previous textile experience, non woven needle punch a plus.
