Hours: Between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • 15-30 hours per week during the school year depending on the applicant's schedule
  • 30-40 hours per week in the summer

Duties in the Underwriting Department include:

  • Assist in preparation of underwriting/binding guideline specifications for upcoming new policy center implementation and the creation of consolidated written guidelines for our independent agents and internal retail, wholesale, and retention underwriting staff.
  • Identifying and communicating potential problems to lead underwriter(s)

During this internship, the student will gain:

  • Fundamental concepts of insurance (including coverages & pricing)
  • An understanding of basic commercial property insurance underwriting
  • organize and help implement a new agent facing rating system

Requirements:

  • Sophomore (preferred)
  • Major in business, math, or equivalent
  • Work with detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, organized, willing to ask questions and speak up to offer suggestions
