Job Description
The purpose of this position is to service and maintain campus wide low voltage, access control, mechanical, and electrical hardware associated with the college interior and exterior doors; as well as locks/cores for various furniture and fixtures. This is accomplished by conducting routine inspections of buildings and equipment; completing preventative maintenance operations; maintaining log sheets of completed work; scheduling outside contractors; responding to emergency work order situations; servicing light fixtures; conducting light carpentry work; and repairing or replacing necessary equipment and parts.

Other duties include monitoring pool chemical levels; troubleshooting systems and switches for the College phone system; changing caustic soda barrels out of the domestic water system; hanging pictures and repairing walls, completing grounds work; and posting College signs.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
High School/ GED
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years professional work experience in locksmithing or related fields
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to serve as the campus locksmith
  • Maintain records of keys and locks;
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance of locks and hardware.
  • Ability to performs access control hardware troubleshooting and repair, along with preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to provide troubleshooting systems and switches for the College phone system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Trade license and/or certification

  • ALOA Certification

Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Work hours are from 7 AM till 3 PM Monday thru Friday with occasional Saturday hours
