Job Title: Loan Officer Assistant

Department: Mortgage Operations

Department Location: Littleton, MA

Reports to: AVP, Mortgage Origins

Career Stream: Individual Contributor

Classification: Hybrid

Compensation: The base pay of the budgeted range is $28-38 hourly. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.

FUNCTION:

Assists the Residential Mortgage Loan Officers (SRMLO/JRMLO) in preparing their files for review by processing and underwriting.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

File Preparation & Documentation Management:

  • Review file for completeness.
    1. Request clarification from SRMLO and JRMLO
    2. Request additional clarification and documentation from borrower either by phone, email or text (borrower's preference)
  • Prepare file for initial disclosures
    1. File must be disclosed accurately within Federal guidelines and timelines
    2. Monitor review and signing of disclosures by both the borrower and the RMLO
    3. Once disclosures are fully signed note intent to proceed in file
    4. File the disclosures appropriately in the system file
  • Set up file for initial orders (appraisal, flood and title).
    1. Ensure all documentation needed to move file forward is in order.
    2. Complete order for appraisal
    3. Complete order for title / attorney
    4. Complete order for flood review

Collaboration & Support:

  • Send file to processing team for initial review. Work with processors on any missing pieces.
  • Once file is with Underwriting, work in conjunction with the processor to collect any outstanding items needed to complete the file.
  • Keep all parties informed on the status of the loan (SRMLO/JRMLO borrowers and realtors).

Continuous Learning & Compliance:

  • Learn and maintain all the application, underwriting and disclosure requirements for Workers' mortgage programs. Follow all procedures for taking an application. Stay current with changes in underwriting, program and regulations on mortgage products.

Other Duties:

  • Adhere to all WCU policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participates in department and/or organizational projects as directed.
  • Performs other tasks or functions as required, requested, necessary or prudent from time to time.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all member and credit union information and data.
  • Regularly demonstrates behaviors as defined by the credit union's Fundamentals, which are part of the Workers Way culture program.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Three years mortgage related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of all types of residential mortgage loans; thorough knowledge of loan policy

Mandated Licensing Requirement:

  • Must or will be registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System ("NMLS") and maintain active status and accurate registration information on file. Provides changes to any individual information (such as an address or name change) as they occur directly into the NMLS system within 20 days of such change.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/scanner, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • This role is currently classified as a Hybrid position. However, the classification is subject to change based on business needs.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This is a largely sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to travel to other work locations as required.
