The Graduate Student Program Advisor and Coordinator participates in the development and implementation of graduate programs for the Lutgert College of Business. The Coordinator's primary responsibility is advising the students, working with Graduate Admissions to evaluate applications and make admission decisions for all three graduate programs, analyzing graduate student data to streamline processes in recruitment, program improvement, retention, enrollment management, timely graduation.
Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Evaluates admissions applications and provides guidance in course selection, degree planning, and graduation requirements.
- Develops and implements programs to enhance and provide opportunities for students to engage in campus programming activities.
- Works collaboratively with administrators in the development, implementation, documentation, and enforcement of program policies and procedures.
- Creates and implements evaluations, assessment, and student retention and engagement strategic goals to assess and report growth and effectiveness of the student programs to supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
- Aids graduation goals by conducting regular degree progression audits to ensure students are tracking to meet goals.
- Creates and maintains databases and manages and analyzes graduate program data.
- Advises and collaborates with campus partners to provide students with resources, support, referral, and advocacy.
- Develops budget recommendations and assists with developing activities and services budget requests.
- Monitors and complies with all fiscal expenditures and guidelines in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Develops, administers and analyzes continuous assessment of programs. Prepares and evaluates statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to be used for decision making and program improvement.
- Plans and coordinates events, seminars, presentations, and workshops that support student retention and engagement strategic goals.
- Develops and maintains the department's publications, website, and social media presence.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates OPS and part-time student employees. Maintains work schedules, timesheets, and payroll action forms.
- Serves on department as well as cross-campus committees for special event planning and programming.
- Ensures that program competencies and learning outcomes are incorporated into all programming.
Other Duties:

- Assists in Graduate Assistant selection and assignment.
- Advises for Graduate Business Student Association.
- Works with Graduate Programs Committee in advisement and implementation of new processes and procedure as an Ex-officio member.
Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Professional, full-time experience directly related to the job functions
- Experience with student database software such as banner and People Soft
- Experience with personal computers using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an AACSB accredited institution in a business-related field
- Two years experience in a higher education setting, in graduate advising and/or admissions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the needs of students in transition, and the core elements of successful orientation programs.
- Knowledge of database software such as Microsoft Access and SQL; visual analysis software such as Tableau and SAS; and data analysis programs such as Python or R.
- Knowledge of FERPA regulations for handling student records.
- Knowledge of University programs and policies and Florida State Board of Education policies and rules.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn student information systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
- Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance and motivation.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work when numerous and complex demands are involved.
