Education:

*BS/MS/PHD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, or related science; Prior professional experience in pharmaceutical sciences highly preferred.

Experience:

*With BS with 4 years, Masters with 2 years, PHD with 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical sciences within academic environment.

Must haves/ Required skills:

* Working in a lab setting .

* HPLC analysis of molecules(biologics and small molecule.)

* Recording results in a notebook.

* Excellent laboratory skills in analytical chemistry or a related field are critical.

* Experience in chemical compound handling, purification and characterization is a must.

* Ability to work on different projects in parallel is required.

* Buffer prep/basic wet chemistry, solid-state characterization /pharmaceutics.

* Must excel in a team environment.

Nice to haves:

* Small scale pre-formulations

* ELN experience

* Liquid handling robotics

* TECAN liquid handling

* Analytical characterization

Software skills:

* MS office suite(excel, power point, Word)

Responsibilities:

Help identify, characterize, and successfully transition quality drug candidate compounds from discovery to development. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to help investigate new technologies related to drug delivery, pharmaceutics, and other areas relevant to Merck's drug discovery/development programs.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

1. Help prepare/design enabling preclinical formulations (drug delivery).

2. Perform solution and solid-state chemistry characterization experiments.

3. Instrument maintenance and preparation routine laboratory reagents (i.e., buffers)

4. Help with shipping and ordering lab supplies.

5. Perform protein stability characterization studies.

A typical day would include preparation of formulation components and molecules of interest to enable stability and performance testing.

* Testing is often done by HPLC based techniques (HPLC-UV, HPLC-SEC-RI) as well as electrophoresis methods. Thermal and X-ray analysis is also common to fully characterize small molecules and biologics.

* Your results would be captured in an electronic lab notebook and communicated to other team members as we support projects.

* The labs are a fast paced and exciting environment as your data will be key to decision making in our labs.
