Lathrop GPM, one of the nation's leading law firms, has an immediate opening for a Senior Legal Talent Specialist in our Minneapolis, MN location. The specialist is primarily responsible for supporting all aspects of the summer associate program and all lateral associate and counsel attorney recruitment function including: providing support to the Legal Talent Manager and Attorney Recruiting Committee; assisting with and providing support for summer and lateral associate, counsel, patent agent, and technical specialist recruitment and selection; assisting with orientation for new attorneys and summer associates; assisting in the coordination of associate training, mentoring and performance evaluation and providing back up assistance with CLE compliance as needed.

Summer Associate Hiring (1L and 2L)/On Campus Interviewing

  • Works closely with Associate Recruiting Committee and assist with recruiting processes (both 1L and 2L)
  • Assists with law school outreach initiatives, including local employer receptions, in-house programs and community events
  • Works with Legal Talent Manager to ensure recruiting materials (including firm web site and Symplicity profile) are updated
  • Coordinates the arrangements with law schools for on campus interviewing
  • Ensures that campus interviewers receive the needed materials before going to campus
  • Schedules all initial and extended interviews for summer associate candidates
  • Assists with law student travel expense reimbursement as necessary
  • Prepares status reports of offers made after extended interviews
  • Updates NALP form for review by Legal Talent Manager. Posts form with NALP according to NALP's timing deadlines and ensures posting on appropriate Lathrop GPM recruiting pages.
  • Attends the local recruiting professional meetings in our hiring markets

Coordinating the firm's summer associate program in all offices

  • Oversees the day-to-day functions of the summer program
  • Coordinates the planning of summer associate social events as directed by the social coordinators and Legal Talent Manager
  • Attends and supports local summer program events
  • Schedules meetings with practice group leaders
  • Helps coordinate lunches for summer associates with attorneys
  • Sets up viDesktop workload / evaluation process
  • Schedules evaluation discussion and review meetings

Lateral Associate/Counsel/Patent Agent/Technical Specialist Hiring

  • Lateral Associate/Counsel/Patent Agent/Technical Specialist Hiring
  • Oversees maintenance of recruiting database/files for all lateral candidate searches
  • Assists Legal Talent Manager with scheduling initial and call back interviews for lateral candidates
  • Maintains candidate feedback and interviewer notes
  • Provides information to lateral associate applicants as needed or as directed by Legal Talent Manager and/or Chief Legal Operations Officer
  • Prepares follow-up letters and tracks all attorney applicant data
  • Tracking candidate due diligence requirements (background checks, due diligence form, references)
  • Ensures completion of candidate due diligence requirements such as background checks, due diligence form, conflicts, and references.
  • Prepares initial offer letter drafts for candidates.
  • Organizes and maintains recruiting materials for all non-partner level lateral hiring.
  • Publishes job postings for all lateral positions and monitors expiration dates.
  • Tracks search firm agreements and facilitates payment process.
  • Records lateral candidate referrals and communicates payment process.

ATS Administration

  • Posts job openings on ATS.
  • Maintains applicant statuses.
  • Develops and runs reports, as needed.
  • Coordinates assistance requests with ATS vendor.

Coordinating on-boarding process for all attorneys, patent agent, technical specialists in all offices

  • Creates new hire orientation schedules.
  • Schedules all new hire orientation meetings.
  • Prepares welcome materials for new hires.
  • Creates arrival checklists.

Other responsibilities

  • Sends out departure notices for all attorney/technical specialist/patent agent departures.
  • Supports Human Resources administrative functions on miscellaneous projects, as necessary.
  • Makes recommendations to management for improvement of firm's attorney employment policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • College degree and four plus years of relevant recruiting/human resources experience preferred
  • Law firm recruiting experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish priorities and remain flexible.
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with acute attention to detail
  • Team player

Current anticipated salary range for applicants as required by applicable state laws is $58,000 - $ 72,000 depending on experience. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range. Full comprehensive benefit plan including health care, retirement plan and paid days off, including PTO, parental leave, and short/long term disability.
