Unity Point Health - Meriter is looking for a Facilities Supervisor to manage and control the Plant Operations and Maintenance activities at the Hospital Campus and outbuildings in a safe and efficient manner. The Facilities Supervisor will manage preventive and demand work order system to ensure timely completion and provide good customer service. This position will focus on management of Outbuildings (including 7 clinics and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Hospital), all building grounds and Fire Safety across all buildings.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities (% of time):

Maintenance Supervision/Leadership 60%
  • Manage and prioritize maintenance/repair activities for accountable areas
  • Monitor incoming and existing work orders and maintain task prioritization.
  • Watch Work Order flow and communicate changing priorities.
  • Maintain Department effectiveness.
  • Review and approve purchase request while monitoring the related expense budget.
  • Operational involvement with capital projects related to infrastructure, equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Responsible for managing direct reports and staffing for the department. This includes scheduling, training, recruitment, disciplinary actions (as necessary), professional development and performance evaluations.
Committee Participation 15%
  • Attend inter and intra-department meetings
  • Represent maintenance group and communicate Department positions.
  • Attend and lead large and small group meetings as needed.
  • Maintain an efficient communication to and from maintenance group.
  • Member of the Fire Safety and Utilities Management Committees of the Environment of Care
Vendor/Supplier Liaison 15%
  • Maintain contact with key suppliers, vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain service contracts with vendors for outbuildings and grounds.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • 2 years' experience with building/grounds and/or facility operations. 3 years in a supervisory position.
  • Private or Military Technical Training in Mechanical and Electrical disciplines. At least Three (3) courses from list of Boilers, Chillers, Refrigeration Equipment, Electrical Fundamentals, Electronic Fundamentals, Hydraulic Machinery, etc.
  • Computer literate (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Maintenance Database Programs
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
