The UC Davis Health School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated and innovative Associate Physician to join the Department of Family and Community Medicine. This position offers a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while contributing to the education and development of future healthcare professionals in an academic setting. Our Associate Physicians will hold an academic without salary position. As an Associate Physician, you will:
* Provide direct outpatient clinical care in all aspects of family medicine for children and adults, inclusive of prenatal care.
* Provide clinical teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in the outpatient setting.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes and ensure the highest standards of care.
* Ensure medical documentation within the Epic Electronic Health Record system is accurate, completed in a timely fashion, and maintained in accordance with institutional policies.
* Provide coverage for clinic telephone and EMR inbox communications, as well as responding to faxed messages. As needed, coverage may extend to after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
* Participate in administrative meetings held to support departmental initiatives and clinical operations while adhering to all relevant department and clinic policies.
This position is primarily based at a UC Davis Health School of Medicine (UCDH) clinic, applicants must have the flexibility to provide coverage at other affiliated clinics as needed. Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: Holds, and maintains, a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license; Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine; Ability to obtain, and maintain, a Medical License in the State of California; Successful completion of an approved Family Medicine Residency training program by the time of hire.
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- One year or greater recent clinical experience in comprehensive outpatient family medicine practice involving the care of both pediatric and adult outpatients and inclusive of prenatal care.
- SKILLS: Ability to manage complex medical patients and their broad range of illness; Collaborate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including management, staff, and physician colleagues; Practice state-of-the-art, high quality medicine; Encourage Patient involvement in care and treatment decisions; Appropriately manage economic resources; Demonstrate strong written, oral, and verbal communication ensuring medical evaluations and treatment plans are communicated clearly, accurately, and efficiently to patients and the healthcare team.
- KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES: Foundational knowledge regarding the common diseases that a family physician deals with daily; Achieve and maintain optimal patient access; Adhere to the current UCDH Network FTE definition and standard Physician Schedule Templates; Demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct, provide and accept feedback; Implement UCDH accepted clinical standards of care, "Code of conduct"; Maintain good standing and active medical staff privileges with UCDH; Embrace change; Take part in innovation and continuous quality improvement, including supporting organizational changes.

- Recent or current practice caring for hospitalized adult and pediatric hospital inpatients.
- Recent or current experience in caring for LGBTQ and diverse patient populations.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is a School of Medicine academic/clinical department of approximately 19 faculty members, 30 Volunteer Clinical Professors, 8 Staff Physicians, 47 Residents and approximately 40 staff members. The department is responsible for providing research, education and clinical service.
