The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) Advising and Academic Services seeks a 100% time (12 month) Academic Advisor. In CAHSS, advisors assist students through providing academic information, helping with the selection of academic majors, providing support through academic difficulties, and directing students to resources within the University. This individual will support the CAHSS Advising Office by maintaining a direct advising caseload, coordinating recruitment events, and assisting with new student orientation, and other duties. The anticipated starting salary for this position is $50,000-55,000. The primary job responsibility is to provide proactive academic advising for students. As an educator, employ effective pedagogy to deliver the advising curriculum toward achievement of UMD's established student learning outcomes. Guide students to the knowledge, skills, resources, and experiences that will help them succeed in clarifying and attaining their educational goals. Facilitate learning and personal development by engaging students in critical, creative, and reflective thinking.
