The Sr Brokerage Advisor role includes providing complex technical expertise and consultative management services to the corporation in implementing policies, procedures, clearance facility specifications and expansion, and computer systems. This role will also ensure regulatory fitness of international import/export operations, manage, and control U.S. import customs brokerage clearance operations, and provide U.S. licensed customs broker expertise to the corporation.

Essential Functions

  • Providing unique complex technical expertise and consultative management services to the corporation in areas of governmental regulatory agencies as it relates to international business decision analysis, automated systems design, operational analysis, product/service expansion, and their impact to international services and systems
  • Defining, developing, negotiating, and implementing international clearance policies and procedures with regulatory agencies, including developing U.S. Customs shipment trafficking procedures/practices
  • Defining facility specifications and expansion requirements to meet regulatory agency and brokerage operational needs
  • Directing, monitoring, and controlling the activities of various contract brokerage areas, including management, customer service, classification, post entry, technical services, hub operations, accounting, and automated system capabilities/Fritz Information Services
  • Providing technical support/consultation with aircraft acquisition and legal to ensure regulatory compliance in the purchase, lease, overhaul modifications, and foreign repairs to the U.S. fleet of foreign flag aircraft
  • Providing worldwide personnel with updated government regulations, commodity data, agency data, systems enhancement, and procedural processing
  • Providing complex technical support to FedEx account and sales representatives regarding regulatory requirements, clearance procedures, related automated systems, and specific customer exception handling requests
  • Providing U.S. governmental regulatory information, including customer visits, analyzing/resolving system and operational problems, counseling of government laws and regulations, and implementing customer exception handling mandates
  • Reviewing changes to existing international regulations, evaluating their effect on all departments, and advising on FedEx policies and procedures to ensure compliance with those regulations and dissemination of that information
  • Defining and developing systems to facilitate international clearance processing and monitoring the phase-in activities of equipment, installation, training, and personnel with the expansion of international operations
  • Researching international regulations to develop position papers identifying FedEx's anticipated requirements for the international marketplace, including application for exemptions or participation in test programs
  • Developing policies and procedures for a national system of customs brokerage and transit requirements, including the development of automated systems to support customs brokerage and freight trafficking operations
  • Developing, establishing, coordinating, and monitoring international clearance objectives and priorities within regulatory fitness confines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree and a U.S. Customs broker license.

Minimum Experience

Eight (8) years of diversified experience in international transportation and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

In depth working knowledge of all U. S. Customs service regulations and all principles, laws and regulations governed by all of the various regulatory agencies.

Ability to work with broadly defined business goals and projects while considering extremely complex regulatory mandates.

Analytical human relations, global business concepts, and quality leadership skills.

Job Conditions

Some travel required.

Working knowledge of all U.S. Customs service regulations, principles and laws. Knowledge of FP&F (fines penalties and forfeiture). Knowledge of carrier inbond compliance.
