Purpose

This is a fixed term, 1 year position that supports the planning and implementation of research and policy initiatives. This fixed term, 1 year position assists in the coordination of programs that support the unit's mission of conducting interdisciplinary research to advance science and inform policy and actions that impact communities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with coordination of policy initiatives by facilitating the creation of policy materials and supporting partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate dissemination of policy and research findings through multiple communication channels (news stories, social media, email, presentations).
  • Manage assigned special research initiatives by coordinating meetings, preparing project documents, maintaining communication with leadership, keeping accurate records, and liaising with academic research partners. Ensure project progress is tracked and reported to stakeholders. Verify materials are linguistically and culturally appropriate for Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Perform specialized work in developing and implementing research protocols and maintaining relationships with community research partners for two research projects. Ensure that research materials are linguistically and culturally appropriate for Spanish speaking populations. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all activities. Provide Spanish-language translation support to research staff who are developing recruitment and intervention materials.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
    • Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and two years of experience.
    • Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish; oral and written).
    • Experience with project management.
    • Experience in engaging with a variety of stakeholders across academic and community settings.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills (oral, written).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
    • Ability to learn independently and also teach others.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Strong skills with integrating new technologies, especially learning new technology and teaching others how to use the technology.

    Salary Range

    $40,000

    Austin, TX based position. May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
