As the Director, Medical Services and Operations (MSO), you will build, manage, and lead various functions such as Medical Operations, Program Management, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Material Approval Process, Medical Education Grants, IITs, Compassionate Use Programs, Training Curriculum/Onboarding, and Medical Compliance. In addition, this role will partner with the other USMA leaders in developing the budget for their strategic and tactical plans and monitoring the execution of all deliverables successfully. This role will serve as a key interface at local cross-functional teams, between the US Medical Affairs (USMA) and Global Medical Affairs (GMA), to ensure consistently aligned practices, processes, proactive communication, collaboration and execution of strategy

Additional responsibilities will Include, but not limited to:

People and Culture/Leadership and Management

  • Develop, retain, and support entrepreneurial talent with a generic/biosimilar mindset and specific focus on alignment/collaboration with our commercial business strategy.
  • Support the portfolio strategy and drive 'Gx mindset' with a focus on simplification
  • Responsible for the leadership and management of the MSO functions such as Medical Operations, Program Management, Medical Information, Medical Communications support, Material Approval Process, Medical Education Grants, IITs, Compassionate Use Programs, Training Curriculum/ Onboarding, and Medical Compliance
  • Ensure robust exposure to all MSO aspects as well as other in-house USMA functions for new PharmD Fellow; provide periodic evaluations, and support communications
  • Lead the Medical Technological Transformation of all MA systems for standalone Sandoz

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure that Medical Services and Operations operate as a Center of Excellence and service all key stakeholders within the matrix team:
  • Represent MSO in specific cross-functional and cross-therapeutic projects Oversee Medical Operations, Program Management, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Material Approval Process, Medical Education Grants, IITs, Compassionate Use Programs, Training Curriculum/Onboarding, and Medical Compliance in their respective areas of supporting the broader business strategy
  • Lead a best in class medical/drug information and communications (Level 1 and 2), technical quality and adverse event complaints reporting, and medical review for Material Approval Process (MAP) for both, Promotional/ Non-Promotional materials.
  • Responsible for oversight of a robust needs-based Independent Medical Education grants process as well as IITs, Research Collaborations, and Compassionate Use (CU) Programs. Lead/oversee the entire Sandoz organization MLR process Oversee accurate and efficient management of the USMA budget process:
  • Support/collaborate with TA Heads and External Engagement Leads in the early planning and development of Strategic and Tactical Plans and budget management for each project
  • Liaise with external vendors, as well as the internal procurement and purchasing teams
  • Ensure direct payments are tracked as planned for congress and standalone meetings related medical expert engagement as well as for publications, grants and IITs
  • Identify opportunities for savings by interfacing with Sandoz Business Services (SBS)
  • Oversee compliant contract management process across all US USMA projects in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders including, the Third-party Vendor, Legal, Procurement, Compliance, Finance, and Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM)

Trust and Reputation

  • Strengthen USMA organizational effectiveness with an emphasis on collaboration, efficiency, quality and compliance:
  • Support the Head, USMA in developing and implementing the Medical Affairs Automated Metrics and KPIs that quantitatively and qualitatively measure performance and impact.
  • Represent Head, USMA as a deputy for Corporate Compliance Committee when needed Establish a framework for USMA compliance that embeds eCORE Principles.
  • Ensure a governance model that allows a reliable and consistent process Lead the End-to-End medical governance of regulated activities (NIS/RWE, IIT, CU), in alignment with Medical Affairs strategy and priorities Monitor adherence to Sandoz processes, standards and regulations Proactively identify risk and support risk management and mitigation Ensure proper classification of the medical activities, in collaboration with ERC if needed
  • Be the single point of contact for partner functions such as Global Sandoz Development, CQA, Compliance, Safety, CDO (Clinical Disclosure Office), ERC, Procurement and others Oversee and monitor local audit & inspection readiness and execution, in collaboration with local QA
  • Track deviation and support implementation/resolution of local CAPA
  • Proactively identify root cause and implement action to improve future audit/inspection performance
  • Instill a deep sense of trust in our customers by enhancing effectiveness and quality of our USMA Associates and activities, while ensuring simplification
  • Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive, up-to-date role-based training curriculum and onboarding plan for USMA Associates
  • Strategically identify and oversee the development/revision of required WPDs, policies, and guidance documents and align all US WPDs, policies, guidance documents with Global WPDs
  • Manage compliant and timely implementation of all new and revised policies and WPDs
  • Facilitate trainings for WPDs as needed
  • Support the US training assessment project as the appointed US USMA representative: Maintain records of US USMA team training records completion, CV, and job descriptions (JDs) Develop and maintain USMA Business Continuity Plan (BCP) that is aligned with the Sandoz BCP and train Associates as needed

Data and Digital

  • Implement the use of the emerging technology within all interactions with internal stakeholders, HCP's, and other field interactions (social media, AI, Platforms, SharePoint, Dashboard, chatbot, Online Onboarding)
  • Ensure seamless transition of systems for USMA in collaboration with Global Sandoz team, Global and US ERC and respective external partners
  • Actively seek innovative digital technology solutions to deliver USMA services
  • Build and maintain a strong USMA SharePoint and Dashboard that is user-friendly and enhances collaboration between the team

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum of an MD, healthcare-related PhD, or Pharm D. professional

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of pharmaceuticals experience leading Medical Services such as Medical Information, Medical Communications, Medical Education, and other External Funding categories, Medical Technology, and Medical Governance and Operations
  • Generic Mindset - Ability to meet the business needs with a generics and biosimilars framework
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs.   • Technical Skills - Clear understanding of standards for Medical Affairs support of independent educational and CME activities and ACCME policies, or Good Publication Practices (GPP3, ICMJE), Transparency Reporting (US Sunshine Act/EFPIA), Disclosure of Conflict of Interest, Standard Response Letters (SRLs), Digital SRLs, Medical Information Website/App, Dashboards, Medical Education portals, Medical Information and Publication databases
  • Interpersonal - Interacts with management and non-management employees across the company as well as HCPs
  • Ethics - Works with integrity and ethics
  • Adaptability - Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Dependability - Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.

This position will be located at the Princeton, NJ site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Preference will be given to local candidates not requiring relocation.

Our Sandoz flexible-hybrid working approach allows US office-based employees to work up to 50% of their monthly workdays remotely.

Sandoz offers a generous employee benefits package that includes a competitive salary, health insurance coverage for medical, prescription drugs, dental and vision, a generous company match for retirement savings accounts, and generous paid time off.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $204,400 and $379,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/25 through 12/31/25, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

On September 30, 2021, Sandoz entered into a 5-year Corporate Integrity Agreement. Certain positions will have responsibilities to support the execution and adherence to CIA obligations, CIA-related deliverables, and any relevant audit, monitoring or Independent Review Organization (IRO) remediation.
