Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Sales Representative to represent and promote McWane Ductile's full line of ductile iron pipe products within assigned territories (North Carolina). This role focuses on servicing existing customers, cultivating new business, and maintaining key relationships with engineers, municipalities, and distributors. This is a home-based position with significant travel within the assigned region. Candidates must live within or near the designated territory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote and sell McWane Ductile products to customers, engineers, and end-users.
- Maintain, develop, and expand relationships with customers, engineers, and distributors.
- Support distributors in selling company products and resolving technical inquiries.
- Identify and analyze market trends, industry shifts, and competitive activity.
- Deliver presentations to engineers, municipal officials, and contractors.
- Read and interpret site drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Monitor field applications to ensure proper installation practices.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry meetings, and events.
- Assist the credit department in gathering project documentation and resolving account issues.
- Manage and track customer information, quotes, bids, and results via CRM systems (Sales Logix/Salesforce).
- Create industry-related blog content and contribute to marketing initiatives.
- Complete all required safety training, including Brainier/Pure Safety modules.
- Perform complaint investigations and ensure prompt resolution.
- Travel extensively, including overnight trips and occasional short-notice assignments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of sales experience in specification-driven products OR 10 years of experience in the utility, waterworks, wastewater, or construction industries.
- Proven ability to establish and grow long-term customer relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
- Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to travel frequently throughout assigned territory.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and communicate clearly.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions, construction sites, and varying temperatures.
- Noise level is generally moderate but can vary depending on the work environment
