Overview:

Provide leadership in supporting sales and retention goals by effectively responding to Request for Proposal (RFPs) that effectively position Securian Financial as the preferred provider of products and services for group insurance in the employer market. Collaborate to create a competitive advantage and increase brand value by presenting honest and appealing, solutions-driven proposal responses that increase Securian Financial's group insurance market share.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage RFP inbox for new sales and determine bid/no bid status using demonstrated target market knowledge and set-up in our SharePoint site.

  • Initiate the NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) process to facilitate the protection of confidential and proprietary information and partner with law and compliance to communicate redlines to channel partners.

  • Analyzes Request for Proposal RFP to determine prospective or existing client's objectives and proposal requirements. Provides leadership in working with department subject matter experts, ensuring all defined due dates are met.

  • Leads and develops proposal strategies and gains input from representatives from Securian Financial Sales, Relationship Management, Home Office management and other associates as appropriate.

  • Creates custom proposals that maximize the prospective or existing client's understanding and appreciation of the fundamental features, benefits, and application of the proposed products and services. Responds to specifications in the RFP, including writing responses to questionnaires, describing proposed plan and financial arrangements, creating supporting materials, summarizing proposal in Executive Summary, and creating or collecting exhibits.

  • Partners with Law and Compliance to respond to terms and conditions, data security requirements and required forms to ensure compliance and mutually beneficial contract terms.

  • Maintains an appropriate level of urgency to ensure all parties have provided appropriate information in time for deadlines. Ensures proposals are completed and delivered by the specific due dates.

  • Ensures proposals accurately reflect Securian Financial group insurance products, services, and capabilities.

  • Maintains quality control by reviewing proposals prepared by other associates to keep up with demand, as requested.

  • Responsible for overall look, feel, design and layout of RFP completed proposal.

  • Prepare or assists with hard copy proposal packages as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills to assure all tasks are identified and completed within tight deadlines. This includes organizational, planning, and decision-making skills to coordinate multiple proposals and projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.

  • Establish relationships with diverse groups of individuals including clients, consultants/brokers, third party administrators and sales associates.

  • Negotiate customized solutions.

  • Effectively communicate features' benefits and technical aspects of proposed products and services.

  • Achieve results through team members from a wide cross section of internal departments.

  • Strong understanding of the legal and compliance landscape and how it impacts contract negotiation.

  • Analytical skills to accurately understand and formulate responses to prospective and existing clients' objectives and proposal requirements.

  • Strong technical skills to effectively use applicable software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, PowerPoint, and Qvidian.

  • Knowledge of Securian Financial or other group insurance products and services.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$56,000.00 - $103,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
