Position Summary

Academic Technologies is seeking responsible,
self-motivated students that demonstrate leadership, aptitude, initiative,
and assertiveness to provide support, training, and solutions for a wide
variety of technology to students, faculty, and staff in classrooms and
computer labs across campus. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent
customer service skills and an interest in technology support, customer
service, as well as training acumen. This position provides support for walk
in requests, over the phone, e-mail, and within the Help.UNM system. Those in
this position also have shared supervisory responsibility of student
technicians and a focus on the areas outlined below.

Must possess the ability to work independently,
organize time efficiently, and to communicate professionally with faculty,
staff, and students. Applicants should be able to take the initiative to
solve problems on their own as well as request help as needed. There are
three unique positions with slightly different areas of focus. Applicants
must also have advanced knowledge of Classroom and Lab Equipment and
Technologies.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Computer Lab Technical Lead

Diagnose and resolve technical issues in computer
labs and classrooms, ensuring a functional and efficient learning
environment. Support operating
systems, including Windows and macOS, as well as commonly used applications.
Assist in managing and maintaining user accounts,
permissions, and access control in lab environments.
Participate in the installation, configuration, and
maintenance of computers, peripherals, and related technology in department
labs and classrooms.
Perform routine maintenance and system updates to
ensure optimal performance and security.
Assist with implementing upgrades and new technology
deployments.
Track and manage inventory of lab equipment,
ensuring accurate records of deployed hardware and software.
Assist in the organization and implementation of
department projects, including lab reconfigurations and new technology
rollouts

AV Technical Lead

Provides advanced technical leadership for student
technicians. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with customers about
ongoing issues in classrooms and dealing with audiovisual systems and
computer hardware/software.
Responsible for ongoing coaching, training and support of staff
development along with helping coordinate and/or take responsibility of
various special projects in the labs and computer classrooms. The ability to
troubleshoot, and repair escalated issues. Has advanced knowledge of classroom
equipment. Ability to work independently in specialized roles with
specialized tasks. Takes initiative to solve computing and personnel
problems.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree seeking program at UNM.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements associated with all
    aspects of the classroom and AV annexes.
  • Ability to work with faculty and teaching assistants.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and coordinate
    with intradepartmental IT specialists to resolve issues and projects.
  • Experience with operation, maintenance, installation, and
    troubleshooting of complex AV systems.
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity at another department or
    institutions.
  • Public speaking / "working with an audience"
    experience.
