Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Terminal Degree (PhD, DBA, DHA, EdD, MD). If the terminal degree is not in healthcare administration or a closely related field, a doctoral degree with an accompanying Master of Healthcare Administration ( MHA) Degree or other related work experience will be considered.
Experience: Seven years of experience through a combination of field experience and progressively responsible experience (program director, chair, assessment director/coordinator) in academia.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare systems, policies, and management practices.
* Proven track record in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
* Experience with innovative teaching methods, including online and hybrid course delivery.

The College of Health Sciences is composed of five (5) academic units. The College of Health Sciences' primary focus is on the practice, pedagogy, and promotion of health and wellness. Primary Purpose of Position
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke's College of Health Sciences is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Founding Program Director for its Master of Healthcare Administration ( MHA) program. This is a full-time faculty/administrative position responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of the MHA program.
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of the program, including curriculum design, faculty recruitment, student success, accreditation, and industry partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary individual to shape the future of healthcare administration education at UNCP and make a lasting impact on the healthcare workforce in North Carolina and beyond.
The Program Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration ( MHA) program is a visionary leader responsible for the strategic direction, administration, and academic excellence of the program. This role involves overseeing curriculum development, faculty recruitment, accreditation compliance, student success initiatives, and fostering strong partnerships with healthcare organizations. The Program Director will ensure that the MHA program remains innovative, student-focused, and aligned with current industry and academic standards.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership and Administration-40%
* Provide strategic vision and leadership for the MHA program to ensure alignment with the mission and goals of the university and the College of Health Sciences.
* Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the MHA curriculum to reflect current trends and competencies in healthcare administration.
* Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and manage the preparation of self-studies, reports, and accreditation reviews.
* Collaborate with the Dean, Chair, faculty, and advisory boards to develop and execute long-term strategic plans for program growth and sustainability.
Curriculum Development and Evaluation-15%
* Develop and regularly update a curriculum that is responsive to healthcare industry trends, employer needs, and best practices in healthcare administration.
* Lead program assessment and evaluation efforts, including the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
* Integrate evidence-based teaching methodologies, technology, and interprofessional education opportunities into the program to enhance learning.
* Ensure the MHA curriculum integrates critical skills, such as leadership, data analytics, health policy, financial management, and operational excellence.
* Lead curriculum reviews, course updates, and program assessment processes to ensure relevance and rigor.
* Teach nine (9) credits of graduate courses in the MHA program during an academic calendar.
Faculty Recruitment, Development, and Supervision-10%
* Assist with recruit, mentor, and support a diverse faculty team with expertise in healthcare administration and related fields.
* Assist with providing guidance and resources for professional development to maintain high teaching and research standards.
* Foster a collaborative, student-centered teaching environment that emphasizes continuous improvement.
Student Recruitment, Advising, and Success Initiatives-15%
* Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and execute effective strategies for student recruitment and enrollment growth.
* Provide academic advising and mentorship to MHA students, ensuring their progression, retention, and career readiness.
* Promote a student-centered culture that fosters professional development, leadership, and success in healthcare administration careers.
* Monitor student success metrics, including retention and graduation rates, and implement initiatives to support student achievement and career readiness.
Accreditation and Compliance-5%
* Lead the MHA program through accreditation and reaccreditation processes, ensuring full compliance with CAHME standards or other accrediting bodies as applicable.
* Develop and maintain documentation, assessment records, and data reporting as required by accrediting agencies and institutional standards.
External Partnerships and Community Engagement-10%
* Cultivate partnerships with healthcare organizations, alumni, and industry professionals to support student internships, guest lectures, job placements, and networking opportunities.
* Engage in outreach activities to enhance the program's visibility and reputation within the healthcare community, both regionally and nationally.
* Represent the MHA program at professional conferences, industry events, and community forums to raise the program's visibility and impact.
Research, Scholarship, and Professional Development-5%
* Engage in research and scholarship activities related to healthcare administration, contributing to the program's academic reputation and advancement in the field.
* Present at professional conferences, contribute to publications, and participate in professional organizations to maintain currency in healthcare administration and education.
