Position Summary
Under indirect supervision, in a team atmosphere, this position is responsible for operational aspects including personnel and equipment safety during the shift.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper startup, operation, and maintenance of the station boilers, steam turbines and generators including associated process and environmental equipment.
- Operate and maintain the balance of plant equipment, station switchyards, and electrical distribution systems.
- Inspect plant equipment, take operational and equipment status readings, correct problems, and perform mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation activities.
- Properly perform the duties necessary to apply the approved LOTO procedure to establish correct isolation of the facility's operating equipment for maintenance activity.
Working Conditions
- This position is in a power plant/industrial environment, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. This job requires climbing ladders and stairs, lifting heavy loads up to 100 lbs., entering vessels or equipment with limited access; walking, stooping, lifting, bending squatting, pulling, pushing, working in hard to reach and high places, standing for long periods of time, being exposed to all types of weather conditions, and working around machinery and pinch points.
- Must be able to work at heights, from suspended work platforms and in confined spaces
- Perform other work required for emergency response and to prevent accidents/injuries of self and others.
Basic/Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of three years' experience in Industrial Maintenance or Operations.
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree in engineering technology, electrical, or related program
- Demonstrated experience or abilities in monitoring and troubleshooting equipment in fluid system operation (pumps, valves, boilers, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in computer-controlled equipment
- Demonstrated experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment
- Must maintain a valid driver's license
- Read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make good and safe decisions. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, use and reach with hands, arms and fingers.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Specific Requirements
- Must successfully pass POSS/MASS test battery and Physical Abilities work Simulation.
- Must successfully complete a physical and respirator fit testing
- Candidates will be required to complete Electrical, I&C, Mechanical, and Operations Fundamentals testing within the Company's required training program.
