Position Summary

The Vice President of People & Culture plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future by aligning HR operations with business goals. This dynamic leader is responsible for crafting and enforcing human resources policies that are not only legally compliant but also strategically sound. They spearhead long-term talent management initiatives, ensuring the company attracts and retains top talent.

By forming strong partnerships across the HR function, the VP delivers valuable services to both management and employees, reflecting the organization's strategic vision. With a keen understanding of the company's financial health, competitive landscape, and strategic direction, the VP acts as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. They provide expert guidance on organizational design, culture optimization, and effective people operations, driving the company towards success.

Supervisory Responsibilities:




  • Responsible for managing senior level individuals within all areas of human resources



  • Optimize and maintain relationships with P&C counterparts at Parent Companywhile maintaining the integrity of the Proxy Agreement



  • Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations related to the areas of human resources



  • Lead the identification and mentoring of high potential talent across the organization to assure pool appropriately skilled and competent professionals capable of assuming greater levels of responsibility across theorganization



  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the department



  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department



  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations



  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy





Day to Day Responsibilities:




  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through HR management



  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organization's human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization's success and market competitiveness based on these metrics



  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, perfor- mance appraisal, and employee incentive programs



  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues



  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements



  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management



  • Drafts and implements the organization's staffing budget, and the budget for the human resource department



  • Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events



  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies



  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations



  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; partners with the legal department as needed/required



  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)



  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention



  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation



  • Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers



  • Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters



  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning



  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs



  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met



  • Performs other duties as assigned





Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's or law degree highly preferred



  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred



  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred





  • Exceptional leadership skills influencing across the SES/SES SD organization, partners, and industry



  • Executive representation of Company within Industry, Network, and Customers



  • SES Space & Defense Brand Champion



  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems



  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software





  • Domestic and International travel





The base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000.00 - $230,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
