The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research organization of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Founded in 1934 as the Engineering Experiment Station, GTRI has grown to more than 2,900 employees supporting eight laboratories in over 20 locations around the country. In FY2023 GTRI had over $941M of problem-solving research awards for government and industry.

Each day, GTRI's science and engineering expertise is used to turn ideas into workable solutions for our customers. Cybersecurity Engineers design and implement secure network architectures and solutions to protect the institution's digital assets against cyber threats. This role involves analyzing security requirements, developing security protocols, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure the effective deployment of security technologies.

Job Duty 1 -
Design and implement secure network architectures and solutions to protect the institution's digital assets from internal and external threats.

Job Duty 2 -
Analyze security requirements and develop security policies, standards, and procedures to guide the implementation of cybersecurity measures.

Job Duty 3 -
Conduct security assessments and penetration testing to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls and identify areas for improvement.

Job Duty 4 -
Monitor security alerts and events to identify and respond to potential threats, ensuring that vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner.

Job Duty 5 -
Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to ensure that the institution's security posture remains robust.

Job Duty 6 -
Develop and deliver training programs for technical staff on secure coding practices and the implementation of security controls in system designs.

Job Duty 7 -
Document security processes, configurations, and incident response procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.

Job Duty 8 -
Participate in incident response activities, including investigating breaches, analyzing their impact, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Job Duty 9 -
Collaborate with Information Technology teams to deploy and configure security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption solutions.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Eight or more years of relevant experience.

This position requires the ability to obtain a secret security clearance
Experience in implementing Splunk applications, tools, and add-ons, including ES and SOAR
Solid technical understanding of cybersecurity concepts, standards, guidelines, and principles
Strong written and oral communication skills
One or more baseline specialized certifications such as: Splunk Cloud Certified Admin, Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin, Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect, Crowdstrike Certified Falcon Responder

Salary Range: $116,775 - $182,773
