Wages and Benefits

$23.07 - $26.92 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), plus 12 paid holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and long-term disability insurance. PCYC sponsors a retirement plan with 25% match on your first 4% and immediate vesting.

Schedule

The role may require evening and weekend hours, along with occasional travel for conferences, trainings, and professional development events.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as PCYC's Capri Best Buy Teen Tech Center Manager involves running a creative tech space for youth, supporting their projects, connecting with the community, and collaborating with schools and families to boost engagement. Responsibilities will include the following:

Youth Development and Support



  • Working closely with local Best Buy stores to recruit Geek Squad Agents and Blue Shirt volunteers.
  • Integrating the Teen Tech Center and PCYC's mission through community outreach involving youth, parents, teachers, and community leaders.
  • Supporting youth in planning for the future, including assisting with academic and job opportunities connected to their Teen Tech experience.
  • Facilitating engaging STEM and arts-based learning experiences to provide access to creative technologies and skill-building.
  • Developing and supporting a welcoming, inclusive environment for youth to explore digital media, music production, robotics, coding, and emerging tech.
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring volunteers to effectively engage with young people.
  • Building strong relationships with members and connecting them with internships, scholarships, and employment opportunities.
  • Developing programmatic models for engaging Teen Tech Center members.
  • Representing the CBBTTC at community events, conferences, and youth development forums.


Facilities and Equipment Maintenance



  • Providing a quality Teen Tech Center experience by leveraging Best Buy National Partner relationships.
  • Maintaining the Teen Tech Center as a safe, organized, clean, and fully operational space with updated technology and resources.
  • Providing technical support and ongoing maintenance for digital tools, software, and creative technologies.
  • Ensuring youth access to high-quality equipment and training by leveraging partnerships with Best Buy's network and industry leaders.
  • Collaborating with Geek Squad Agents to ensure equipment functionality.


Clubhouse Network Collaboration



  • Supporting The Clubhouse Network with record-keeping, idea sharing, collaborative projects, fundraising, and publicity.
  • Incorporating the Clubhouse Learning Model into Capri Best Buy Teen Tech Center programming.
  • Participating in Clubhouse Network meetings and multi-site collaborations and sharing best practices.
  • Tracking and reporting participant data, program outcomes, and success stories.
  • Assisting with fundraising, grant writing, and promotional efforts.
  • Building partnerships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to enhance engagement and impact.


Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Managing employee and team performance, providing training, setting expectations, and coaching for development.
  • Ensuring effective employee relations and fostering an ethical, inclusive, and safe work environment.
  • Establishing effective communication methods and resolving conflicts and grievances.
  • Overseeing staff and volunteers, ensuring they receive proper training, support, and opportunities for professional growth.


Who You Are



  • You hold a bachelor's degree in education, youth development, technology, or a related field - or have equivalent work experience.
  • You bring at least five 5 years of experience working with youth, especially those from underrepresented communities.
  • You have experience working in informal learning environments such as community centers, makerspaces, or after-school programs.
  • You possess a strong background in youth development, with a genuine passion for mentorship and hands-on learning.
  • You have a basic understanding of or interest in digital media and technology, including tools like music production, coding, 3D printing, and video editing.
  • You communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences - including youth, parents, educators, and industry professionals.
  • You are passionate about working with African American youth and supporting their growth and development.
  • You are experienced with computers and view technology as a creative and empowering tool.
  • You stay highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities at once.
  • You can foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation within a tech-focused space.
  • You demonstrate the ability to conduct outreach to youth, parents/caregivers, and community stakeholders to grow participation and engagement.
  • Preferably, you have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PCYC's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
