Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Forestry Sales Specialist in Richmond, Virginia. The Forestry Sales Specialist will serve as the in-house expert on forestry applications, supporting our sales team in growing market share within this specialized industry. The Forestry Sales Specialist will play a critical role in assisting sales representatives by providing technical expertise, conducting product demonstrations, and matching forestry machine solutions to appropriate applications. Seeking candidates with industry specific sales and leadership experience. Experience in forestry operations, logging, or related industries preferred. Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.

Requirements for the Forestry Sales Specialist position include:
  • Strong technical understanding of heavy equipment, particularly in forestry applications.
  • Must be able to conduct effective machine demonstrations and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to travel extensively and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assist with market forecasting and strategy development.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and basic sales reporting preferred.
  • Promote a positive customer experience.

Physical requirements must be met for the Forestry Sales Specialist job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
